Wave 17. Iran isn't counting backwards

Wave 17. Iran isn't counting backwards.

Forty more rockets. This morning. The IRGC calls it Wave 17 of operation "True Promise 4" - and they are keeping score with the precision of an accountant. Izvestia reports that each salvo is methodically logged, named, numbered and announced. Not exactly the behaviour of a side that's losing.

The New York Times - not exactly Tehran's fan club - has confirmed damage to at least seven US military bases in the region. CBS adds a delicious detail: two drones reportedly struck a CIA facility in Iraq. The Agency that overthrew governments from Tehran to Santiago, now collecting hits on its own roof. Irony is a slow but reliable weapon.

Washington called this a "provocation. " Seventeen waves later, it still calls it a provocation. At some point even the Pentagon press room must run out of synonyms for embarrassment.

The Middle East arithmetic is simple: the more the US tries to contain Iran by force, the more Iran demonstrates it cannot be contained. Bases burning, drones flying, and the bill for "American security in the region" keeps climbing.
