Karl Pilkington travels the world in search of answers to some of life's most important questions. He begins with marriage, wondering whether he is wrong about not wanting to tie the knot with his long-term girlfriend. In Delhi, he gains insight into arranged marriages by going on a date with a prospective wife - and her parents.
Karl Pilkington tries to find out how people achieve happiness. In Mexico, he joins members of a tribe who enjoy running ultra-marathons and meets a group that finds pleasure in pain. In LA he hangs out with some hip-hop clowns, experiences a day of beauty with a plastic-surgery addict and gives up his possessions to see if the simple life is the answer to contentment.
Why do people have children? That's the puzzler bothering world-weary philosopher Karl this week. Traveling the globe, he tries to understand why couples feel the need to become parents, visiting a fertility festival in Japan and a natural birthing center in Bali - where he lends a hand with a delivery - and meets an LA couple looking to take the next step.
Karl aims to get to the bottom of his relative lack of a vocation, and visits an 85-year-old Japanese inventor to discover whether he has what it takes to become a genius. On the opposite end of the spectrum, he hangs out with a self-made millionaire in South Africa and jets off to Los Angeles to strut his stuff in a Hollywood fashion show.
Karl ends his journey with a look at differing attitudes to death. He visits Ghana, where he shops for a customized coffin, before attending his first-ever funeral and the accompanying parade. He also meets members of a community in the Philippines who live and work with the deceased, and is taught how to cry and deal with grief by a professional mourner in Taiwan.

Karl Pilkington is saying the things that everyone else either doesn’t think or...is afraid to say. He is absolutely hilarious in the oddest way possible and I want to be cat like friends with him. I preferred an Idiot Abroad, but this is pretty awesome in its own right.

LOL! Episode 1. Oh my god Little White Wedding Chapel, Los Vegas, Nevada.... that where I got married. Also where TONS of superstars got married too. Oh my GOD. Do NOT do it if you're not ready for a horrible divorce. What's going to happen is.... she is going to NOT be as happy about it as you think. You didn't give her her princess wedding and she WILL hold that against you. OMG... um, so you can't win doing a quick wedding like that. Apparently you need to pay out of pocket to the point where you're broke for a wedding, otherwise.... can't count on the future. I'm just saying. That's my experience. Loved each other to death until months after the quick wedding. Then... boom. Forget it. Done and done. It's over. Love this series. Don't think they went to Little White Wedding Chapel though but close. Either way... you don't want the fast food package version of marriage. It's going to seem nice at the time but then bite you HARD in the a$$.

This show is amazing. I love everything about it, and everything about Karl. If you enjoyed "An Idiot Abroad" and don't much care for Ricky Gervais, this is the show for you. "An Idiot Abroad" is still a great show, and you should check that out as well. If you are a true fan of Karl Pilkington, and can't get enough of him, I highly recommend it. I thought it wouldn't be as good, seeing Karl go off on his own, and answering the big questions of life, but I was wrong. Karl is just as funny. He still finds himself in awkward situations and still moans about it. If you've ever been interested in "An Idiot Abroad" or "The Moaning of Life", it is definitely worth your time and money.

Karl Pilkington is one of the world's greatest comedic treasures, just by being himself! If you enjoyed the "Idiot Abroad" series, this is very similar except Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are not involved. I love the 3 of them together, pure hilarity for sure, but I really enjoyed that this was just Karl on his own. It gave him the chance to explore and make his unique observations without the interference or distractions of Ricky and Steve prodding him and teasing him. He has the most fascinating (and yes, often idiotic) way of viewing the world and interacting with others. Sometimes, there's little nuggets of intelligence and common sense there though, underneath all the moaning, and hidden behind a layer of naiveté and lack of understanding. I love Karl Pilkington and I love this show!

Can't wait for Season 2 (in UK on Oct. 13th) hopefully it won't be a long wait to get it in USA. If you loved "Idiot Abroad" than this is as good as that. If you have not seen this or Idiot Abroad your in for a treat, Karl's humor and take on everyday life is a lot of fun to watch. I found people in the room were rolling in laughter throughout, Great stuff. Five stars for me is rare as I am stingy, reserved only for things I will watch again anytime it's on or drag my copies out frequently.
