There are many writers who don’t know how to write fiction. They have had their own experiences or read a lot of great books, but they don’t have the skill to create a story.
They don’t realize that the most important thing about writing fiction is that you have to have a story that hooks readers. If you can’t do that, you’re just writing a bunch of words.
A.J. Kincaid (The Drowning, The Locket)
When I first heard about this book, I thought it was going to be a typical romance novel. I was wrong. The plot is actually really good and the characters are really well-developed.
This is the story of a man who is left behind during a storm. He finds himself stranded on a deserted island with only a few supplies. His only companions are the voices of the women he has loved.

The Best Picture Academy Award Recap
I’m not a huge fan of the Oscars. I don’t really watch it on television, but I’ve been to a few of them over the years and have never seen anything that made me want to go again. The best part about it is that I can get away with not watching it. I can walk away from the TV and not worry about what people are saying about me.

The Best Short Stories of 2012
It’s hard to believe that the year is almost over, but it’s also hard not to be excited about the new stories and books that will be coming out in 2013. Below I’ve collected my favorite short stories from 2012, from some of the best writers in the business.
“The Wayward Son” by Maggie Stiefvater (The Raven Cycle, December 5)

THE AUTHOR'S BIOGRAPHY
THE GREAT CHANGING OF SHERLOCK HOLMES
In his book Sherlock Holmes: A History, Dr. John H. Watson writes: “The great change in Holmes’s life was caused by the death of an old friend, the Duke of St. Alban’s, whom he had known since the days of their youth. The Duke was killed on the road to Paris by a bullet fired at him from a horse-drawn carriage.”

After the success of my last blog post, I thought it would be fun to do a little something similar, but with a different topic. I’m going to share a few of my favorite books that have been written by a woman. If you’ve read any of these books, please let me know what you think of them in the comments below.
