CPU Spread Spectrum CPU Spread Spectrum option for a lower instantaneous emission of EMI for better system stability. Generally speaking, if CPU Voltage Frequency is not going to be set to "Manual" while with CPU Fixed Frequency set to a higher value, then it is always advised to enable CPU Vcore Spread Spectrum for better stability.
I was in my BIOS and saw 2 settings that I wondered about: SB Spread Spectrum and BCLK Spread Spectrum. What do they do? Also, what are the pros and cons to on and off? Thanks!

From what I understand, this can be caused by having VRM spread spectrum enabled in the bios, but the Dark Hero doesn't seem to have that option anywhere. What needs to be changed in order for the bus clock to be closer to the default 100? I've tried setting it manually in a range of 99-102, but that hasn't made any difference.

My i5 2500k back in the day refused to be stable at 4.3GHz with 1.4v, then I disabled spread spectrum got it to 4.5GHz 1.35v. Now I am want to tweak the extra bit for 4GHz on my R5 1600 and can't because there is no spread spectrum setting.

spread spectrum is an EMI pollution reduction thing. Having it on drops the reported frequency by an extremely small amount (like to 99.8MHz from 100.0), and I'm unsure if it's measurable in performance.
If you go in to bios, AI Tweaking, DIGI & VRM, go to Cpu Vrm Switching Frequency, make sure that is enabled (it probably already is), then go to Vrm Spread Spectrum, enable that or set to Auto you can play with both, then go to Active Frequency Mode enable that. See if it makes any difference.
The effect of high CPU Voltage Frequency may vary with respect to the CPU used. It is highly recommended to Enable VRM Spread Spectrum or Enable Active Frequency Mode when not intending to set the CPU Fixed Frequency to the highest level to allow less emission of electromagnetic interference or better power saving.

Problem is BIOS's VRM Spread Spectrum causing boot instabilities, disabling this on the ASUS motherboard fixes the problem and the PC POSTs every time. Waiting on more information from ASUS as to why it says that the option is recommended and it will improve system stability in BIOS.

If you think EMI causes this, then enable CPU Spread Spectrum in the Bios and VRM Spread spectrum. Also, undervolt your CPU. Helps 90% of people who have EMI issues. It's better to leave those settings on anyways, because they don't increase lag by ms.
Title ^^ help pls There's no harm in having it enabled or disabled when it works correct, it can be a bit buggy. All it does it is reduce electromagnetic interference.
