If your Volvo keyfob is only working intermittently, your battery might be failing and you'll need to replace it soon.

You can replace the Volvo key fob batteries on your own by following a few steps. First, you must locate a clean work surface to begin the process. Lay out all of the tools you need. Find the battery hatch, and ensure it is set to "open." Use a flathead screwdriver, coin, or other similar tool to open the hatch open. Next, carefully pry the battery from its socket by lifting it on the side closest to the key-ring loop. Be sure to use rubber gloves to avoid damaging the clips or electronic contact surfaces.

Once the battery has been removed, put the new one in its socket. Make sure the positive side of the battery is facing up and that all clips are seated. Slide the cover downwards towards the key-ring until it becomes loose and it falls off. Remove the cover to reveal the hidden mechanical key blade. You can use this to unlock your car from the driver's door when you've lost or damaged the key fob.

How to Start Your Vehicle

The majority of modern vehicles are equipped with key fobs that can do much more than unlock or lock the doors. They can also perform other useful functions, such as summoning and auto-parking the vehicle. The brand new Volvo XC60 is capable of remotely starting your engine via its key fob buttons. How does it work exactly?

Use volvo v70 key or coin, or similar tool to flip open the battery hatch. Be careful not to touch the electronic contact surfaces of the fob using your tools, as this could cause the key fob to stop functioning properly.

When the hatch is opened and the battery is in its socket, making sure it is properly seated with the positive (+) side facing upwards. After the clips are fixed Replace your battery cover and reassemble the fob.

By pressing the unlock button only once, the alarm will be disengaged and the door for the driver will be unlocked. Pressing it a second time will unlock all doors and the tailgate. The unlock button can also be useful to roll down the windows to let in fresh, cool air on a hot summer's day.
