The League of Women Voters of Scarsdale is a volunteer nonpartisan political organization that promotes political responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government. The League is nonpartisan in that it does not support or oppose any political party or candidate for public office, but the League encourages its members, as individuals, to take part fully in the political process. The League is political in that it takes positions on selected governmental issues after serious member study and consensus.

The Advisory Council on Communications supports successful launch of the Village’s new website, a communications platform providing residents with 24/7 information access and opportunities for engagement in local government affairs, and will present written recommendations to the Village Board for strengthening the Village's communication strategies and cultivating engagement opportunities with the diversity of audiences it serves. The Council serves in an advisory capacity to the Village Board of Trustees.

Mayor Samwick and the Board of Trustees seek to combat racism and bias and their deleterious effects on society, as evidenced by the senseless killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and others, as well as local experiences, including such examples as overtly anti-Chinese statements made by a speaker invited to present to the community on the topic of COVID-19 in March 2020, hate symbols that were found on School District property, the incidence of microaggressions experienced by Scarsdale residents, and other unacceptable interactions that persons of color and varied racial and ethic backgrounds endure. Whether overt or subtle, intentional or accidental, we must all strive as responsible members of the Scarsdale community to endeavor to be aware of cultural differences, value and encourage diversity, and vehemently reject all forms of racism, bias, and discrimination.

We are a noncommercial, nonsectarian, and nonpartisan association dedicated to enhancing the experiences of Scarsdale High School students.

Each year the Procedure Committee invites Scarsdale residents to run for the Citizens Nominating Committee (CNC). As one of 30 members of the CNC, you will interview, evaluate and select candidates who will be on the non-partisan slate for Village elected offices in the Village-wide, mayoral and trustee election.

The SBNC is responsible for nominating candidates each year to fill upcoming vacancies on the Scarsdale Board of Education (School Board). The members of the SBNC are elected by the residents of their election unit, each unit corresponding to one of the five elementary school districts in Scarsdale — Edgewood, Fox Meadow, Greenacres, Heathcote and Quaker Ridge. Each election unit elects six voting members, two each year, to serve staggered 3-year terms.
