Volunteer Social Media Strategy Lead
Digital nomads. Work from anywhereCompany: The Symbiosis Foundation
Help us build a clearer and more consistent social media presence
The Symbiosis Foundation is looking for a Volunteer Social Media Strategy Lead to help us plan, coordinate, and strengthen how we communicate our work online.
We are a growing nonprofit initiative focused on collaboration, learning, and community-driven social impact. Our activities include an Accelerator programme, events, community stories, volunteer opportunities, and partnerships.
We already have stories and activities worth sharing. We now need someone who can help us decide what to communicate, organise the work around it, and ensure that our social media presence tells a consistent story.
* Location: Remote
* Time commitment: Approximately 2–6 hours per week
* Compensation: This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
What You’ll Focus On
As Social Media Strategy Lead, you may help us with:
* Developing a practical social media direction based on our mission and current priorities
* Creating and maintaining a simple content calendar
* Identifying content themes, campaigns, and storytelling opportunities
* Coordinating with content creators and other team members
* Collecting updates and turning them into clear content briefs
* Helping ensure that our tone, messages, and visuals remain consistent
* Reviewing planned content and suggesting improvements
* Looking at basic social media results and identifying what we can learn from them
* Helping improve how we use channels such as LinkedIn and Instagram
This role is primarily focused on direction, organisation, and coordination. You will not be expected to create every post yourself, although occasionally supporting content creation may be helpful.
Who This Role Is For
This opportunity may suit someone who:

* Enjoys organising ideas, information, and people around a shared plan
* Can connect day-to-day content with a wider organisational story
* Communicates clearly and gives constructive feedback
* Is proactive and comfortable taking ownership of a developing area
* Can work collaboratively in an international, remote team
* Is interested in social impact, nonprofit work, or community-building
* Can contribute reliably for approximately 2–6 hours per week
Previous experience with social media planning, communications, marketing, campaign coordination, or editorial work is helpful. Experience with LinkedIn, Instagram, Canva, content calendars, scheduling tools, or basic analytics is also welcome.
Formal leadership or management experience is not required. In this role, leadership means bringing structure, initiative, and consistency to our social media work.
What You’ll Gain
* Practical experience shaping a social media approach for a growing nonprofit
* The opportunity to coordinate purpose-driven communication
* Experience working with an international team
* Exposure to content planning, digital storytelling, and campaign development
* Space to test ideas and help build a communication function
* A meaningful role in helping social impact stories reach more people
