UPDATE
Remember that when this word is a noun, AN UPDATE, the stress falls on the 1st syllable - [UHP-deyt]. As a verb, TO UPDATE something, it's [uhp-DEYT].

In the context I used it, it means "to make someone lose confidence or enthusiasm".

A word with many meanings. As a verb, "to forward", in this context it means "to send further". You get a message and then you send it (forward it) to someone else.
EFFECTIVELY
I'm sure you know the 1st meaning of it - "in an effective manner", "efficiently". However, I used it in its 2nd meaning - "actually", "in reality", "according to its present function".
AMENITIES [uh-MEN-i-tee] or [uh-MEE-ni-tee]
When used in plural, it means those basic things we don't imagine our home without - water, power, heating, elevator, Internet access, parking, etc.
