Vital Considerations When Changing Web Hosting or Outgrowing It

If you’re a startup, most probably you are counting your pennies as you read this. Funds don’t always stay with you. So, your website needs to be near the top of the list when you are determining to choose a website hosting or outgrowing it.

Here are factors you need to take into account to ensure whether your web hosting is helping your business or holding it back.

Website load times

What are your website load times? This is a multi-million question. After all, faster loading websites let users have a better user experience than slow ones. Speeding up your site may be expensive and time-consuming. But one area that you can choose to achieve this is the type of ‘website hosting’ you choose. Upgrade your site to either Solid State Drive (SSD) hosting or switching to a Virtual Private Server (VPS). You can see dramatic changes in your website speed.

DNS Changes

Once you choose to upload your web files to the new web hosting server in India and recreate your email accounts, you can make necessary changes in your domain name server (DNS). You can usually obtain DNS once signing up with the new best web hosting provider. In that case, replacing your existing DNS settings with the new one is essential. This can be done via your domain management panel. Usually, the new DNS takes 24-48 hours to propagate. So, it’s advisable not to cancel the old web host until the DNS is propagated completely. During this process, your old web host is responsible for website and email.

IP Reputation

Make sure the server your site is hosted on is not sending spam or hosting malware. Once it’s detected with such malware, chances are the IP address will be blacklisted. That is not good for you as it can affect your search ranking as well as the ability to deliver emails. One way to address this issue is to monitor the outgoing emails and software on a server. There are many tools and software you can use to track your server’s IP reputation and make sure if it gets blacklisted.

To summarize, even though you’re a startup and don’t need a large website, it’s the platform that establishes your brand and serves your customers as an access point to reach you. You shouldn’t underestimate the importance of web hosting, instead make an informed choice for your web hosting service.
