Since forming in 2010, Vintage Trouble have quietly become rock ‘n’ roll’s best kept secret anointed by its very gods on international tours in every corner of the globe. Distilling swaggering rock, soulful blues, R&B (rhythm& blues) grooves, and pop ambition into a bold and brash brew, the quartet—Ty Taylor [vocals], Nalle Colt [guitar], Rick Barrio Dill [bass], and Richard Danielson [drums]—have logged 3,000 shows across 30 countries on tour with divinities such as The Who, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Lenny Kravitz, and Bon Jovi, to name a few. Along the way, they also performed on Later… with Jools Holland, Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!, Conan, The View, and The Tonight Show (four times in one year!) in addition to receiving acclaim from New York Times, NPR, The Wall Street Journal, Billboard, Rolling Stone, and more. With a trio of albums under their collective belt, namely The Bomb Shelter Sessions, The Swing House Acoustic Sessions, and 1 Hopeful Rd., they challenged themselves like never before on the Chapter II – EP I in 2018 and the Chapter II – EP 2 in 2019.

Vintage Trouble (formed in 2010) is an American soul and blues-rock four-piece, reminiscent of Chuck Berry and Otis Redding, hailing from Los Angeles, California, U.S.

Vocalist Ty Taylor and guitarist Nalle Colt, friends of over 14 years, had regularly played together before forming Vintage Trouble in 2010. With the addition of mutual friend and bassist Rick Barrio Dill and drummer Richard Danielson, the group began recording in their own D.I.Y home studio in Venice Beach, California. Soon after, Vintage Trouble began playing local dates and late night speakeasies, delivering their brand of ’50’s soul and blues music that owes as much to Otis Redding as it does The Rolling Stones. Following three days of intense recording the group released their debut output “The Bomb Shelter Sessions” in July 2011.
In an attempt to make a name and history for themselves, the group headed to Europe and landed shows opening for Brian May and Bon Jovi on their huge arena tours. The shows raised Vintage Trouble’s international profile, as did an appearance on “Later… with Jools Holland” in early 2011. The band’s debut full-length subsequently rose to No. 13 on the iTunes Best Selling Digital Albums Chart, after which Vintage Trouble performed at the private North Yorkshire prep school Malsis School at the request of the head teacher.
Following shows opening for The Who in North America and Europe, the band released the album “The Swing House Acoustic Session” in 2014. More high-profile shows followed including supporting Paloma Faith and AC/DC before the band returned to the studio to release “1 Hopeful Rd.” in August 2015.
Tuesday, September 16 should go down in history as the night of the show where Vintage Trouble - Ty Taylor, Nialle Colt, Rick Barrio Dill, & Richard Danielson - told the world, "Pay attention to what we do because you are far better for hearing us."
This truly powerful quartet combines like no one else blues, classic soul, strings, rockabilly, dance, and rock. The best musicians tell stories and Vintage Trouble does this with tracks like "Blues Hand Me Down," "Nancy Lee," and "Nobody Told Me."
One of the greatest things about this show was the band's performance of several tracks acoustically. This was done both to recognize their recently released EP "The Swing House Acoustic Sessions" and to make the show a little more intimate and connective. And succeed they did with this. Highline Ballroom is not the City's largest venue and the space there makes possible really loud rock as well as a folkier sound. Not all bands live in and with both of those voices; Vintage Trouble embodies the complexity of these sounds by bringing them together. Vintage Trouble conjures James Brown with its beats and Ty's body rocking, The Who with Richard's ass kicking drumming, and Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eddie Van Halen, Eric Clapton, and Jimi Hendrix thanks to Niall's and Rick's shredding. I mention these iconic guitar players on purpose. What this band does is honor and recognize its forebears without mimicking them or cheating its way to sound through copying. Only real talents can do this. And these guys do it tenfold. Keep your eyes and ears open. Vintage Trouble makes music the experience it's meant to be.
Having seen Vintage Trouble as warm up for AC-DC I had a pretty good feeling about what I was about to see - and my expectations were sky high. It doesn't happen that often - but the concert exceeded that.
This is a plain no bullshit band. No hiding behind huge stage construction - just giving their all in a marvellous connection with the crowd.
Rhythm & blues... soul .... rock ....Jackson Brown and Otis Reading meet Led Zeppelin. .. difficult to describe. ... just realised good music - but served with love, energy and happiness. ... one giant party.
I will join everytime I have the chance.... Maybe this energetic LA band is the world's best performers today - not kidding
The L.A. outfit played a high energy twelve song set at Shepherd's Bush Empire.
All four are excellent musicians - Ty Taylor even treated us to some of his trombone playing as well as his usual foray into the audience during the penultimate song, "Run Like The River".
The one criticism would be that the set sagged somewhat in the middle and better song selection would have helped.
Overall, Vintage Trouble are well worth catching as a live act.
Amazing show in a packed venue. Not only are Vintage Trouble great musicians but also great performers and entartainers
Ty interacts a lot with the audience, runs all over the place and even did an amazing kick ! Does he even get tired ???
They came back for an encore And then stood at the merch table for another 30 minutes, signing autographs and paying attention to people
Once again, VT comes to Portland to PUT ON A SHOW !!!
Yes these are professional-level musicians, but they are showmen as well, combining to make for a standout and engaging experience built around a raw, genuinely entertaining rock-based R&B sound.
P.S. Hat's off to them for their willingness to have Ty perform a mock wedding ceremony for the couple last night as well.
What a performance Friday night at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland!!!
Music with soul and backbone matched with showmen that entertain -- the world of music needs far more of this. Vintage Trouble is a standout of authenticity that "brought their game" to the audience, who had no option other than to respond and engage.
I went to Bikini, to Razzmatazz and now to Apolo and although this band is great, they have almost the same setlist and the same show. This concert was like a deja vu. Not bad, but not as good as I expected... and the performance was too short... a bit disappointed
great show; a lot of energy , charismatic singer ofcourse but shot show !!
i used to go out for concerts in Paris and i wanted more , it was so good!!!
see them in France as soon as possible .
