Beauty trends are constantly changing and evolving, but some products never go out of style . In fact, you can still buy skincare products, makeup items and fragrances that Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy and more iconic beauties used during their time.
Such beauty products have stood the test of time for a reason. They’re, well, tested and timeless — and loved by legions throughout the decades. And, perhaps surprisingly, many of these vintage products are drugstore staples , clocking in at under $10.
Check out some of the most loved vintage beauty products you can still buy today — and find out what famous ladies loved them.
When Grace Kelly married Prince Rainer of Monaco in 1956, she was wearing a fragrance specially made for the royal occasion. The scent was commissioned by Prince Rainier for Kelly to compliment her wedding bouquet. It’s still available for purchase, and contains notes of bergamot, tuberose, iris, and Bulgarian rose.
This cleansing bar, rumored to be used by Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Onassis , was created for blemished and oily skin. It contains dead sea mud, which is rich in salts and minerals supposedly beneficial to the skin. The cleansing bar launched in 1952 .
Givenchy’s L’Inderit is the signature scent of Audrey Hepburn , created especially for her by French fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy in 1957. The perfume has notes of orange blossom, jasmine, tuberose, vetiver and patchouli. When Givenchy reportedly asked Hepburn if he could put the scent to market, she is rumored to have told him, “ I forbid you. ” Rumor has it, the scent’s name, which is French for “forbidden,” is a play on this conversation.
Created in 1976, the story behind Benetint is almost too wacky to be real. The founders of Benetint created the stain as a nipple tint for a local exotic dancer who wanted a way to make her nipples stand out on-stage. The woman loved the rose petal-based concoction so much that she gave a couple bottles to her fellow dancers. Now, actresses Winona Ryder and Nicole Kidman reportedly love the lip stain .
Jackie Kennedy, who loved the outdoors, reportedly had sun spots on her skin as she aged. Several sources say her favorite is Elizabeth Arden’s Flawless Finish Foundation , which gave her an even complexion. The foundation launched in the early 1900s.
Cult-favorite face powder Coty Airspun has been around since 1935, and the packaging still maintains a gorgeous vintage look. It also has a scent reminiscent of your grandmother’s beauty room that adds to the vintage flare.
Marilyn Monroe famously said the only thing she would wear to bed is “ five drops of Chanel No. 5 .” The iconic perfume launched in 1921, and smells of ylang-ylang, rose and jasmine.
Created around 1895, this iconic salve is still around today. Most often used as a lip balm, the rose salve is so famous that a circa 1914 version of the balm is in the National Museum of American History .
Revlon lipstick color Cherries in the Snow launched in 1953. The red color has a unique tinge of deep pink, and was reportedly worn by poet Sylvia Palth .
Released in 1907, Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser is half cleanser, half moisturizer. The dual product was reportedly used by Marilyn Monroe and Jackie Kennedy. It’s reported that one Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser is sold every 15 seconds .
Who knew treadmills could be this tiny and this quiet?
