I ordered Dr Martens from Nordstrom before this purchase and I was very disappointed that Nordstrom’s were made in China or Vietnam. The quality of leather, sole, packaging and craftsmanship fell way short to the original made in England that catapulted the Docs the iconic brand that it was. This product is made in Dr. Martens' only UK factory on Cobbs Lane in Wollaston, Northamptonshire. It uses the high quality quilon leather, from the same production process. I got a lot of attention and compliments from shoe aficionados the first time I wore this to work. It’s made to last and although it costs more than those made in China and Vietnam counterparts, it’s definitely going to be worth every extra penny you’ll spend.
These vintage series Docs are exactly what I was looking for. I have wide, high volume feet, so I will be in for a rather lengthy break in period - keep that in mind if you're buying the vintage rather than the Asian made boots. The leather is thicker, stiffer, and there is less room in the toe area due to the cap lining. The only minor quibble I have is that the eyelets are no longer stamped with "Dr. Martens" on each one like my old pair. I read several reviews on the Asian made boots and many stated a quick or no break in period. That raised red flags for me as proper Docs take some time in my experience to mold to one's feet. Leads me to believe that the leather is of a lesser quality and that they would not have the durability I expect in a pair of boots at this price. I have an old pair that I bought in the mid 90's that look a lot worse for wear as I wore them virtually every day for a decade, but structurally they are still rock solid. Spend the extra money on the vintage series and don't look back - you won't regret it!

When I received this product, at first I was excited to see the made in England box, but the boots inside were made in LAO/PDR. The leather used in these is not the black/quinlon but rather the solid black. For the Chinese 1460's you should pay about half what these are selling for. Don't be fooled, these are the Chinese version, not the English ones they're trying to portray.

Vintage 1460s fit smaller than the cheaper Vietnam versions of the 1460. Order a half size or a size larger if you can. My girlfriend wears a 9 in women’s (8mens) and I ordered a 10 womens(9mens) and they fit perfectly. Made in England docs are a boot you will own for the rest of your life. There is no comparison in quality compared to the made in Vietnam junk they sell. It’s well worth the extra 60$ to have a boot that will last a decade or move versus a boot that will last maybe a year, and look like trash well before they fail. Buy the vintage.
Edit: The vendor, Londonstore, reached out and offered a new size or I could take the refund. Since I really want those Docs, I opted for the larger size. Their customer service gets an A+. I love Docs and these were legit from England. However, the UK 9 didn't fit like my other pair of Docs sized UK 9. I regrettably had to return them.
Get the "made in England". Worth the extra money. Having worn out Malaysian pairs and English pairs over the decades, the English are just made better and with better materials.
Overall quality is much better than that of those made elsewhere (I own three of them). Worth the extra cost. The two very thin muted red lines on the front characteristic of the vintage version add a touch of sophistication to the care-free youthfulness of the Doc spirit. In the summer when I placed the order, the siizing info was confusing. I ended up getting the wrong pair. I contacted the owner, and we quickly solved the problem. Will buy from them again.

I just received mine today.These are beautiful boots, no doubt. They are just so big, much too roomy in the front. I'm contemplating returning them for a smaller size, but am a bit afraid the next pair will be too small? Kind of debating here. I wish the sizing process were easier. Again, beautiful boot though!

and I am really happy with them
I have had my Oxblood boots for about a month now, and I am really happy with them. I compared the "Made in England" with the "Original" (i.e. not made in England) in a shop, and I can definitely detect a difference in quality, so I am happy that I bought the "Made in England" version, as I wanted a pair of boots that would last me at least two or three years despite almost constant use in the cold months. They are incredibly comfortable and fit perfectly after only a short "breaking in" period. I did not get any blisters or discomfort as others have reported. I achieved this by putting on the Dr. Martens Wonder Balsam first thing as it softens the leather considerably. The second thing I did was wearing them in my home for a few hours on the first day. On the second day I put on band aid on the would be problematic spots (heel, little toe), and wearing them inside for as long as I felt was comfortable (about four hours). On the third day I wore them outside, still with band aids on, and took them off after a couple of hours. And that was pretty much it! Now I wear them all day, and I don't experience any problems at all. My only note for consumers is that the laces seem a little ratty already, so you might want to buy a pair of hiking boot laces to replace the original laces when they wear out.

Made in England.... built to last!
First pair of Docs that I've had in about 15 years and they actually feel better quality than my old pair (which lasted 20+ years). I tried on some of the Chinese ones before settling on the "Made in England" Vintage ones - these are so much more solid and sturdy, they feel they will last for many years. Recommended!
Excellent quality boot. Exactly as I was expecting. Unusual that they came in a plain cardboard box but they are definitely not a second or sub standard pair. I would highly recommend. Given that they were £30 more on the DM website I feel that I can live without a box with a logo on the lid, especially since it went into the recycling anyway. If you like DM's the Vintage boot is the way forward.

Fantastic Vintage DMs.
A fantastic pair of DMs. Always wanted a vintage pair. But was put off by the price. These were £40 cheaper than DMs official site. They ooze class. They came presented in an Doc Marten box. Fast and efficient service aswell. Sheer quality.
