Vouyer moved to Los Angeles, California in 1989. He spent his first years in the western U.S. as a fork lift mechanic by day, and an adult strip dancer by night.

He became involved in making pornographic movies after meeting porn starlet Alicia Rio at a party. He appeared in his first sex scene on March 13, 1994. He has appeared in over 1,000 adult films since his debut in 1994.

When Vouyer first entered porn, he was known for several years for his very long hair, large penis size and chiseled body. These days he keeps a short hairstyle.

For many years, he worked mainly for Anabolic and Diabolic , porn companies that are connected to each other. After leaving Anabolic/Diabolic, he directed his own line of videos for Red Light District Video . Red Light District is the company that distributed the Paris Hilton porn video titled 1 Night in Paris . A scene directed by Vince Vouyer was featured in the special features on the 1 Night in Paris DVD, and was also included in the VHS version. Vouyer left Red Light District in 2005 then sued Red Light District and the owner David Joseph who then settled out of court, paid Vouyer an undisclosed amount of money and returned all Vouyer's content to him. Vouyer then launched Vouyer Media with partner Steve Orenstein .

Founded in late 2005, Vouyer Media produced gonzo DVDs shot in widescreen HD . Vouyer Media's stable of directors is headed up by Vince Vouyer and contract actor/director Jack Napier .

After less than 12 months in business, the new company's Breakin' 'Em In 9 won the AVN Award for Best Pro-Am Release on January 13 at the 24th Annual AVN Awards Show, hosted by Jessica Drake at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The movie also earned Best Anal Sex Scene - Video for Vouyer and Amy Ried . Other awards received during the company's first year include the Nightmoves Fans' Choice Award For Best New Production Company, and the Beverly Hills Outlook Award for Best Gonzo Release (for The Gauntlet ).

Was first introduced into the adult-film industry by Alicia Rio in 1994.

On September 7, 1998, he was in Budapest, Hungary, shooting a porn film for a series called "World Sex Tour" when he and a buddy decided to go out on the town for the night. After being scammed out of a lot of money on a bogus bar tab, Vince encountered a man who wanted to start a problem with him, a fight ensued and before Vince and his companion knew it they were being chased by some angry Hungarians. After running all they could to get away, Vince and his friend were finally cornered when they entered a dead-end on mistake and Vince was beaten unconscious and stabbed a couple of times in the back. He and his pal were hospitalized for two and a half days. A few days after leaving the hospital and resting at their hotel, Vince went back to work on World Sex Tour 16: Budapest (1998). His wounds can be clearly seen in the video.

Started directing his first projects for Odyssey Group Video in 1996.

Spent the latter part of 1996 in a work furlough program as a result of his conviction on charges of "procuring women to work as prostitutes". Damning testimony from his ex-girlfriend and fellow porn star Crystal Gold apparently sealed his fate. He had to leave sets early for almost eight months so that he could be back at his halfway house by 9 PM.

Fortunately for me, I'm on the A list. I get to work with top girls, I can say no when I want to. Every time a case arises, it's from brand-new people or someone from the bottom of that talent list. I'm not usually in contact with any of those people, so I am very isolated."

I'm very much into discovering new talent. I very rarely repeat a girl in the same series. If I do, she is very special. People buying my movies will always see new faces.

Making a good [porn] movie is like baking a cake. You have to have the right ingredients, the right guys, the right girls. If I don't have them, I won't shoot.

[on directing] I'm very simple. I do what I do, and I feel comfortable doing it, and as long as I'm 100% happy with it, I don't care what A.V.N. [Adult Video News] or any critic has to say. It doesn't mean squat to me. You won't hear me getting mad about a bad review--mark my words on that.

[on his thoughts after his first sex scene] I knew that I wasn't frightened off by it. I started getting some phone calls and sent out some photos and resumes to get more work.

[about his directorial debut, "Tampa Heat", and the challenges he faced] Learning everything. I got on a plane to Tampa, turned on the camera, without even knowing how to white balance and started rolling. Luckily I came back with a product.

[on Viagra] For me, the day I have to use it to get through a scene, I will retire. I will not become an eyesore to the industry. There are a few guys in the business who should be retired. They know who they are. If they had any self-esteem, they would quit.

[on if he gets recognized in public] Usually. Some people will be with a certain person in their lives so they can't say anything. I pick up on that a lot. For some reason, black guys recognize me everywhere I go.
