The Killing Joke is a dark knight origin story written by Tom King. It tells the story of young Bruce Wayne, who if an adult is orphaned at a young age, given up for adoption and raised by a kindly old woman. Bruce is educated and brought up to be the perfect citizen of Gotham City and even goes as far as to combine the vigilante justice group called the Wayne Security Force. However, when an unidentified assailant attempts to kill Bruce, the pair of them wind up becoming allies. Struggling with each other using covert weapons they learn that this guy is the Joker, the clown killer that terrorized the city as the Joker cradles a Kalekah in his arms and increases the fear of both Gotham and the world. Now, a permanent reminder of his darkest ago, The Joker returns to wreak havoc and make Gotham City is once again.
A standout character from the Batman comics is the Joker. A crazy and menacing menace to the city of Gotham City, the Joker's personality and nature have changed over time. Originally a simple clown who gained notoriety through a distinctive psychological effect, the Joker is a much different character now who uses his enemies weakness and deformity against them to gain total power.
In the most recent release of The Dark Knight Rises, the source story of the Joker is given more focus than in previous films. Oscar winner Christian Bale plays the Joker in The Dark Knight. Beyond the generalization of the Joker, one of the most significant things about him is that he owns a unique psychological weapon. After viewing the source story of the Joker, viewers can see the importance of this weapon in his general ability to defeat Batman and win. As we're exposed to a distorted version of the true story of the Joker, there is a tendency to concentrate on his killing spree and the subsequent trauma that he inflicts upon Batman, which functions as a crucial element of the character's personality in the Dark Knight. This is a mistake, however, as the true reason behind the Joker's horrific behavior is a lot more psychological than any kind of weaponry.
The Joker is obsessed with the fact that his mother was murdered during the birth of his only son, and he's obsessed with the fact he is the absolute ruler of Gotham City, as well as, the whole planet. He considers that Batman is weak because he does not have a cape or any type of magic powers and is thus inferior to him and his regime. The Joker has a vast mental plan that includes using his fear of Batman to subvert every Batman effort at stopping his plans.
In other words, the Joker would like to win by eliminating any hint of weakness and this explains why he attacks Batman. But this does not mean that the real Joker is any less harmful. There is a chance that the Joker might be emotionally unstable and could kill Batman just to test if Batman can fight him. This is what makes the Riddler distinct from the Joker. The Riddler is a genius, but he's obsessed with winning over the city by using the fear of Batman.
He wants to see the real power of Batman and take over the streets of Gotham City, establishing a rule over the people of Gotham for years to come.
