SGK Objectives of National Science Day:
1. Create awareness about the importance of science used in the daily life of the people.
2. Kindle curiosity & encourage students to experiment as well as popularise science and technology.
3. Provide a platform to students to exhibit their scientific experiments/models thereby enabling the students to bridge the gap from Theory to practice.
4. Elevate the younger minds to find solutions to simple day-day life problems faced by individuals/society by applying scientific principles & concepts.
5. Showcase the activities, efforts and achievements in the field of science for human welfare.
The Government has declared 28th February as National Science Day as advised by National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC). The first National Science Day was celebrated on February 28, 1987.
On the occasion of the first NSD, NCSTC instituted National Science Popularisation awards to stimulate, encourage & recognize outstanding efforts in the area of science communication and popularisation.
