CGI

Nice CGI video with pieces of the lore, heroes and their abilities.

Cinematic with a new story fragment for the new season in Fortnite. With licensed characters from our favorite movies and references to classic movie scenes.

Live-action Videos

Боевой пропуск: IV сезон в World of Tanks. Операция «ИГЛА»

The game industry doesn't often use live-action videos to promote games. Especially with a duration of ~15 minutes. Recent ones I can recall are a short series for Escape from Tarkov and a PUBG video. According to the statistics, our audience is ready to watch videos of such duration.

Total War: ROME REMASTERED Announce Trailer - Take Back Your Empire

The Total War: ROME remaster has been announced with a live-action trailer.

Who Is Stealthlord66? - Apex Legends / Nintendo Switch

Apex Legends promotes the release on Switch with a live-action commercial.

Black Desert Online - Official Live Action Trailer

Black Desert Online mixed gameplay with live-action footage of what the game has to offer the player.

Interesting

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate - Cutscene Controller: Scorpion | PS CC

An interesting format has been launched on the PlayStation channel. The presenter tells the story of the characters by studying the cutscenes, rewinding and pausing the videos at the right moments to focus on the details.

We can look closely at the genre and think about whether, for example, WoT should do something similar to communicate the new lore more clearly. For example, in the format of a section in WoT and Karina.

DEATHLOOP Explained

The genre Explained in a not-so-common way. The game director on camera personally presents the game and its basic mechanics. At the same time they use the main game mechanics — the time loop — in the presentation itself.

PUBG MOBILE | PUBG MOBILE x Godzilla vs. Kong

PUBG MOBILE has gone the way of Fortnite and are making crossovers. There was already a crossover with the Metro series.

Now it's a crossover with Godzilla vs Kong. There is good editing of the gameplay with film footage.

Codename: Urban Legends

Niantic (creators of Pokemon Go) presented a new AR game.

Discussion

Warpath: Showdown

A large-scale, expensive, VFX-packed cinematic for the mobile game Warpath. Many interesting tricks. But the impressions are contradictory. Personally, I have a feeling that the tone and content are not matched here. It seems to focus on movie-style video, there are details that should add humanity to the characters (pictures of children, elderly parents, etc.), it seems that they show the horrors of war, but it is presented in the style of comic book movies. And it causes dissonance and disgust. It may be that I have this because my taste was brought up on the Soviet cinema of war (where everything is large-scale and humanistic) and Hollywood war dramas (Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, etc.). But maybe the modern mobile gamer likes this kind of approach and nothing confuses him? Share your thoughts, how do you like the video?
