A prison inmate is stripped naked, has his head flushed down a toilet and held there with a foot on his back before he is whipped mercilessly and, in a final indignity, is urinated on by guards.
The shocking video of torture has reportedly emerged from Penal Colony Number 2, in Yekaterinburg, central Russia .
The footage shows the inmate’s tormentors, allegedly the prison staff themselves, screaming ‘C’mon, go on a crawl, you rat!’ as he lays on the floor.
It is claimed he was punished after he refused to sign a prison contract swearing him to secrecy over the brutality meted out by guards at the facility.
Torture: The unnamed man is seen in a communal bathroom, apparently inside Penal Colony Number 2, located in the city of Yekaterinburg in central Russia's Sverdlovsk Oblast region, with his head in a toilet
Vile: Later, what appears to be the same man is shown, tied up and severely beaten, while the person behind the camera urinates on the wounds. The man appears to moan in pain, but can do nothing to stop them
Because he refused to sign the document, they inflicted their punishment on him, it is claimed.
Police in Russia have launched an investigation into the footage.
Penal Colony Number 2 denies that the footage is taken from inside the prison.
A spokesman for the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for Sverdlovsk region: 'There is no evidence that the video was filmed in the IR-2.'
It is claimed that new inmates to Penal Colony Number 2 are subjected to similar attacks when they first arrive as an initiation.
The brutal punishment by guards is to break their spirit if they refuse to play by their rules.
This inmate refused to sign and was singled out for special treatment, it is claimed, it is claimed.
Penal Colony Number 2 has a long history of claims of alleged abuse. It is the same prison where inmates were beaten by guards with clubs in a video a few years ago.
In this one, the skinny man crouches at the feet of three black-clad guards in a communal toilet.
He is then forced to half crawl to the toilet, where he puts his head inside. The three continue to chat above him, as he silently does as they ordered.
The toilet is then flushed as the man clings to the bowl. A black boot appears on his back, and the woman behind the camera begins to laugh, before someone then spits on the back of his head.
The process is then repeated at a different toilet, and then again a third time - with the difference being, this time he drinks the water from the bowl.
The video then cuts to the same bathroom, but a different time when what appears to be the same man lies face down on the floor.
His back, previously clear of wounds, is marked with deep red, bloody welts, his hands tied. His shaved head also bears a deep, red cut.
Common: Human rights activists in the region have been warning for years that pirsoners were being severely beaten by the guards - but, up until now, have been unable to prove it with hard evidence
Proof: They claim men are beaten if they refuse to abide by the guards' rules. They are forced to sign a piece of paper when they arrive where they promise to never tell the outside world what is going on inside
The person behind the camera then begins to urinate on him, starting on his head, and moving down onto the wounds.
At one point, the man seems to moan in pain - unable to do anything to stop the humiliation than try and move his face out of the way.
Insiders have claimed for years this kind of treatment was going on, reported 66.Ru .
But getting proof has been almost impossible - compounded by the fact the guards demand prisoners sign a special paper, where they agree to never share any information about what was going on behind the high walls, and become part of a group called the 'harem'.
Alexei Sokolov, from In Defense of The Rights of Convicts, said: 'This document is very important. It shows that if the convict tells somebody about what is going on, he would end up in the most humiliating position. This is a typical means of pressuring convicts to toe the line.'
Those who refuse are beaten like this man, and are told in no uncertain terms that they are at the bottom of the prison hierarchy. The video is said to be a warning to all the other prisoners.
The only other purported video evidence to emerge appeared in 2009, showing prisoners being beaten with clubs, but Russian authorities claimed it was shot in the 90s.
Police have begun an investigation as human rights campaigners demand swift action.
This is the second horrific video to emerge of rough justice in the last few days.
Earlier this week, a video showed suspected drug dealer Aleksey Frumkin, 42, with his wrists tied to a wooden post with masking tape and beaten with electric cables until the skin on his back begins to bleed.

He then begs for his life, saying: 'Stop please! I'll say what you need. I will call another drug dealer and he will arrive with drugs.
'I swear I told everything. God I can't stand it anymore, I want to live. Please, please.'
'But this fellow will be slaughtered as a dog. He will live until he has stopped talking about his fellow drug dealers and has given us information, and then he will be dead.'
Frumkin, believed to be a drug dealer, was allegedly tortured by the pro-Russian rebels he supported against Ukraine's government.
