Vermicelli Upma Recipe by Bambino Pasta
Bambino PastaIngredients to Make Vermicelli Upma:
Vermicelli – 2 Cups,
Vegetable oil -1 tbsp,
Onions -1 (small sized),
Jeera – ¼ tsp,
Mustard seeds-¼ tsp,
Groundnuts – 25g,
Chana dal – ½ tsp,
Urad dal – ½ tsp,
Red chillies – 1 Nos.,
Curry leaves – few,
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp,
Green chillies – 2 Nos.,
Coriander leaves – few,
Salt – to taste
Method to Make Vermicelli Upma
Step 1:
Firstly heat a heavy kadai or pan. begin to roast the vermicelli stirring often. Remove the roasted vermicelli in a separate bowl or plate. Keep aside.
Step 2:
Add 2 tablespoons oil or ghee and 1/2 spoon mustard seeds, cumin seeds and urad dal to the hot oil. Add cashews and peanuts if you like.
Step 3:
Add ⅓ cup finely chopped onions, ginger, green chilli, 7 to 8 curry leaves, 1 dry red chilli and a pinch of asafoetida(hing) and mix well.
Step 4:
Once golden brown, add 2 cups of water to the mix. Add salt, and sugar to taste. Let the water come to boil, and add the roasted vermicelli to the mix.
Step 5:
Simmer until water is absorbed and vermicelli has become soft. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
