No Noughties child would have made it through their childhood without yelling the words ‘the Vengabus is coming!’ at the top of their lungs at some point.
The Vengaboys were proper bedroom rave up tunage back in the day, and the base for under 18s discos up and down the country at the end of the 90s and in the early 00s. The boys in their cowboy and sailor outfits, and the girls in bikini tops and sequins. MAN it was a good time for music.
They formed in 1996 and by 1998 had treated us to the wonder that is We Like To Party, then they went on ‘hiatus’ in 2002 after their single Forever As One bombed in the charts.
So 20 years since their original formation, the band are still on the touring circuit and guess what, the quartet look EXACTLY the same.
What do they put in the water for these celebs?!
OK so there was a slight line-up change, Roy den Burger left and was replaced by Donny Latupeiriss, who joined in 2006, but still those faces are as fresh as the day they first blared out Boom Boom Boom Boom.
The Eurodance group is now made up of Kim Sasabone, Denise Post-Van Rijiswijk, Robin Pors and Donny Latupeiriss. Denise briefly left the group last year to have a baby, but she’s back in it now as they continue to work their way through their tour.
Their massive bangers We Like To Party (Vengabus), Boom Boom Boom Boom and We’re Going To Ibiza are still top of the bill during their gigs.
And they even had their own museum in New York – the Ellington Vengaboys Museum.

What's that we hear? Is that the sound of the Vengabus approaching us at full speed? You bet your life it is. TOOT TOOT!
The Vengaboys were the epitome of late 90s/early 00s tuneage. There was that banging track Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom , the beautifully written We Like To Party , and W e're Going To Ibiza, which, if I remember correctly, was voted the most iconic song of the 20 th Century. It beat Imagine by John Lennon to the top spot, don't you know?* And lest we forget Up & Down.
So isn't it nice to see that those PVC sailor-hat-wearing Dutch folk are still living it up after 20 years!
The band - who formed in 1996 then went on hiatus in 2002 after that stinker of a track, Forever As One , bombed hard - are still touring, and look EXACTLY THE SAME! How though – how do they still look so ravishing after two decades of jumping about in PVC chaps?
Well, they don't look exactly the same as such… original member Roy den Burger bought a one-way Vengabus ticket and skedaddled. But don't worry because Danny Latupeiriss was on hand to jump into his glittering codpiece (after a quick rinse hopefully…) and join Kim Sasabone, Denise Post-Van Rijiswijk, Robin Pors on tour.
Sidenote. The Vengaboys have their own museum in New York, called the Ellington Vengaboys Museum.

ON the cusp of an Aussie tour, we got to thinking, just what do early ’aughts popsters Vengaboys look like now?
EVER wondered what noughties pop group The Vengaboys are doing now?
The Dutch singers captured our music-loving hearts with their catchy dance tunes, including We Like to Party , Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!! and We’re Going to Ibiza, reports The Sun.
After emerging in 1997, the popular group, made up of Kim Sasabone, Denise Post-Van Rijswijk, Robin Pors and Roy den Burger, went on to sell an estimated 25 million records.
The Vengaboys first album, Up & Down — The Party Album , failed to chart in any country apart from their native Netherlands, where it reached No. 4 in 1998.
Their second release, the two-times platinum The Party Album , fared much better, peaking at No. 6 in the UK and also charting in the US, Germany, Canada and Australia.
Before the release of their third album, protesters in India took to the streets in their hundreds to march against them performing in the country.
In 2001, student leader Rahul Das said: “Pop groups like Vengaboys do not fit into a conservative culture like ours.
“We don’t want the band to perform here.”
The popular group ended up cancelling the tour date following the protests.
A year after the controversy, the Vengaboys released their third studio album, The Platinum Album .
Ironically, despite its apt title, the collection failed to make a huge impact on the market and fell far short of platinum status.
After failing to dazzle with their third album, the Vengaboys disbanded in 2002.
In 2006, the four members returned to the club scene, replacing original member Roy den Burger with a new member, Donny Latupeiriss.
The much-loved pop group went on tour together for two years, playing popular shows at different student union nights and clubs at UK universities.
In 2010, the group released a comeback single, Rocket to Uranus , which was only realised in their home country, the Netherlands.
Today, The Vengaboys are still as popular as ever, amassing an Facebook following of almost 70,000 fans.
In the coming months, the pop band is playing a number of different festivals across Europe, as well as an extensive tour of Australia.
Next month, their appearances include Skive and Esbjerg Rock festivals as well as club nights in Inverness, Scotland and Ostrava, Czech Republic.
