Forums Videos Spots Logout Register. Cuba, Varadero Kite rental Forum for kitesurfers. We read that the spot is good for kite surfing but have not been able to find information on rental equipment price, standard etc. Does anybody know about that? We live in Denmark, but we think that bringing our own gear will be too expensive. Post by jcn » Sun Dec 28, pm Hi again -thanks for the fast answer. I heard somewhere that the Cuban waters are shark-waters..?! Should we take precautions in any way? Post by titix » Wed Jan 28, pm No sharks and definitely no rental in Cuba I'll be around from feb. Post by jcn » Thu Jan 29, am Hi Titix -thanks a lot for that answer! Hope for some nice weather by the beach -and of course a couple of days with some good winds. We only had 3 days of weak wind. It was the 3 days we spent in Varadero, but the locals said that usually the wind was strong, so I guess it was just bad luck at Varadero. Regarding gear you should bring your own. I didn't see any kite rental anywere in Cuba. I took with me a 12 and a 16 meter kite an a Naish Stubbie I only pumped the 16 once, because each day I was super powered with my I didn't pay extra for the luggage. I squized the board in a big backpack, and newer told it was kite equipment. Durin the travel we flew with 6 different planes and it went smooth every time. Playa del este is great since you have the capital half an hour away. Varadero is more of a tourist resort, and I don't think it's where I will spend my time next time I go to Cuba. It's not bad, but there are more interesting places to visit in Cuba. Watch your stuff at the beach. I lost a bagpack in Varadero. Expect the wind to blow from NE. Must be the sea-breeze-effect I guess?? In Varadero this means slightly off shore in the morning and alittle cross onshore in the afternoon. Don't be affraid of the sharks. They say that the last leathal shark attack was in Expect to be the only kiter at the beach. During the 3 weeks I only saw 2 other kite surfers. Just ask if you need more advice. Have a great trip. Cuba i great and you can't beat the climate. Maybe I've seen you at Sydvestpynten. Hang Loose Heine. Post by jcn » Sun Feb 08, pm Hi there Heine -thanks for the very useful descriptions We will probably be bringing our X2 10 ang 14m2 kites and our Stubbie too -As of what you describe I think that will be ok. Where there a lot of people on the beaches? Especially Varadero where we will be spending most of our time. Last summer we went to Italy and brought our gear, but all beaches were to crowded by people We are mostly kite surfing in Limfjorden at Ejsing in Denmark -so I don't think we have met If we run into more questions I will reply to this thread -thanks again for the nice information -we can't wait to get going!!! That will be taking about 20min of your time, but then a great help for thousands of kiters out there for many years!!! Thx Toby. Post by bubka20 » Mon Feb 09, am hey, i'll be in Cuba in March also. I will be around Veracruz, Mexico in early March. Let me know when you're going to Cuba and we can hook up Jump to. Home All times are UTC. Imprint Advertising Guidelines.
