Dramatic police bodycam video shows the moment former “ER” actress Vanessa Marquez was gunned down by police during a “welfare” check on the actress in California.
The video, published by TMZ Tuesday, opens with an unidentified police officer trying to coax Marquez to go to the hospital in August 2018 after her South Pasadena landlord raised concerns about her wellbeing.
Marquez, 49, who said she had a seizure, is seen sitting on a disheveled bed and looking down at her mobile phone while the cop pleads with her.
“We’ve already had this discussion and it’s beyond that now, OK?” the cop says.
“I’m not going,” the actress replies.
Things then take a dramatic turn when Marquez is seen reaching under the covers.
“Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Oh s–t, she’s got a gun,” the cop says as he retreats, gun drawn, into the next room. “She’s got a gun. Gun, gun, gun, gun.”
“Drop the gun,” he yells to the actress in the next room. “Drop the gun.”
“Kill me,” Marquez is heard saying.
“I’m not going to kill you,” the cop answers. “Drop the gun. Drop the gun.”
The officer then retreats downstairs, where other cops can be seen in the home.
“Get down, get down,” he says. “I don’t know. It’s a gun, though.”
Moments later, at least two officers are seen downstairs pointing their guns at the top of the steps.
“Vanessa, put your hands up,” one cop is heard saying. “No gun, okay?”
“Vanessa, drop whatever is in your hand right now,” he says. “Drop it.”
The officers then unleash a barrage of gunfire toward the top of the steps, killing Marquez.
A close-up of the footage shows a gun being pointed down at the officers before the shots ring out.
The final frame shows the actress dead at the top of the steps with the gun lying next to her.
Marquez was part of the “ER” cast from 1994 to 1997. She appeared in 27 episodes in the role of nurse Wendy Goldman. Her other credits include appearances in the TV series’ “Malcolm & Eddie” and “Wiseguy.”
The actress claimed she was blacklisted when she complained to producers that she was groped on the set of “ER,” Variety said.
She got her acting break in the 1988 movie “Stand and Deliver,” starring Edward James Olmos, according to Variety.
