In the first episode, Gary says that creating Lisa is possible because he saw it in a John Hughes movie once. The movie of course is Weird Science (1985) , which spun off the series.

In some ways, I think this series is better than the movie. I like the cast a lot better in the series, and seeing as how you can watch the show every week, ya know...more than 2 hours worth of story! I liked this show a lot when it was on U.S.A. network years ago, but now, it's back on Fox Family Channel on Saturdays. Great idea, because the show is really funny. The production values are decent for a show of the type, the cast can act...and Vanessa Angel, she's somewhat pretty, but I think she's hilarious in this role. Great show, great add-on to the movie. 8/10

Vanessa Lachey knows how to handle a mishap! About 20 seconds into her quickstep to “Let’s Be Bad” on Dancing With the Stars , the former TRL host accidentally stepped out of the bottom half off her dress right in front of the judges’ table. However, she didn’t miss a beat and swiftly continued the dance.
Host Tom Bergeron was spotted running out onto the dance floor to pick it up and get it out of the way.
“I lose my skirt right in front of the judges. It looks like bribery,” she joked before getting her scores. “Hey, if it’s for extra points , I’ll take it.”
Carrie Ann Inaba said it reminded her of Kelly Monaco’s wardrobe malfunction during season 1. “It actually sent her over the top,” the judge said. “What I saw was you — something happened and you just let yourself go and it was such a fantastic performance! You are the epitome of class and grace.”
The scores echoed that — she finally shook the 8 tradition and landed four 9s with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy .
Husband Nick Lachey wasn’t so lucky this week and he and pro Peta Murgatroyd were eliminated following his Samba to “Wild Wild West.” However, he’s staying positive and focusing on rooting for his wife every week and spending more time with the kids.
“That’s been the toughest part of the show — having two parents so busy with the show,” he told Us after the show. “So if there is a silver lining, it’s that I get to be dad again, and take the kids to school, and my son will be very happy that I’m around more. But look, in a perfect world, we’d still be in it. We’d still be going. But it’s the nature of the beast. I went into this thing knowing I wasn’t a good dancer, knowing that it was going to be an uphill climb, and I’m very, very proud that we gave it our all, and probably got to this point, so no regrets.”
The singer also added that the family has “already cleared the space for the Mirror Ball” in their house.
“Even though I didn’t bring it home, there’s still hope for the Lachey household,” he added. “It will be up for display. Either that, or we’ve got to borrow Drew [Lachey] ’s at some point. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that!”

Peter Farrelly called the film's box-office failure the biggest disappointment of their career, attributing the failure to its release during the 1996 Olympics. Farrelly said that it was crushing. Bill Murray pretty much steals the show every time he's on the screen. He's sleazy, he's smarmy and he's very funny. With that comb-over going nuts at the big game, and his victory dance at the end makes Kingpin that much better. That's not saying that the rest of the film isn't good, it is. Woody Harrelson, Randy Quaid and Vanessa Angel make a very odd partnership. An Amish bowling whiz, a one handed ex-bowler, and a very sexy hustler scheme and dream to make it to Reno, but of course they have to beat Big Ern.

NEW YORK (CBS) Penthouse magazine publisher Bob Guccione, who died Tuesday in Texas, put the magazine squarely in the center of many controversies during his publishing career.
Among the most famous was the 1984 issue which included nude photos of Vanessa Williams during her reign as the first black Miss America. She was forced to give up her crown in the fuor that followed its publication.
The magazine, founded by Brooklyn-born Guccione, in the mid-1960s reached the peak of its popularity with that issue, selling nearly 6 million copies and reportedly earning $14 million.
"I am not a lesbian and I am not a slut, and somehow I am going to make people believe me," Williams said to People magazine at the time.
Williams eventually rebounded from the scandal and launched a successful career as an entertainer, earning Grammy, Emmy and Tony nominations.

Today, she can be seen as the newest cast member on ABC's "Desperate Housewives" as Renne Perry, the former college roommate of Felicity Huffman's character Lynette.
"It's another opportunity for me to put on the clothing of somebody new," she told People in July. "It's a character worth watching so I'm excited to bring it to life."
