There are plenty of activies to do in Val Thorens both on and off the slopes. The top things to do in Val Thorens when you're not skiing have to be the Cosmo Jet toboggan run, the zip lines across the resort and the multi-sports and swimming pool complex. You can also find a wide variety of self-catered apartments and hotels in Val Thorens. Val Thorens has won the title of 'World's Best Ski Resort' four times since and is one of the 20 most visited ski resorts in the world, attracting more than 1. Spent a week skiing in Val Thorens over Christmas Conversely throughout our stay the weather was clear with blue skies and sunshine. The pistes were busy it was over Christmas , but if this is one of the busiest weeks of the year then for the remainder of the season they must be perfect. It was also possible to plan routes to miss the crowds. Higher up the pistes the queues were less of a problem. The only queue that never seemed to die down was for the Peclet bubble. Even on my last day I was still exploring new areas. I think for the variety of different pistes Val Thorens had much to recommend it. Fantastic resort. We were lucky and had the best snow ever for this early in the season. Great snowboard destination with so many off piste pow runs. Night life is good if you walk to the top of the town where the Frog bar is. I think, because we had 3 days of snow at the start of the break the pow runs were the best I have experienced. Be a little careful of the rocks here and there when of the piste as there are some areas where there are some massive boulders but if you follow the lines the locals set out you will be OK. Not the cheapest resort but you are a long way up the Alps. We had Xmas dinner at Les Clarines which is opposite the Frog bar and can highly recommend the food, excellent and reasonable price. Large resort great slopes and lifts, plenty of shops. Resort is highest in Europe so when sunny and clear it is beautiful but when snow storms arrive it is a total wipe out with little visibility. Guaranteed snow though. Fantastic location. Easy to access the slopes from the bottom of the building. Good value apartments and everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Would definitely return! An amazing resort, superb skiing with great lift facilities, very busy late in the season because the resort is so high and you're guaranteed snow. The nightlife was buzzing, plenty of good restaurants to suit all budgets and service was friendly and fun. Val Thorens is easily accessed up the vally road 30km from Moutiers. Excellent pistes, with a number of lovely long blue and red runs. Fantastic off piste areas fed by fast chair lifts and gondolas. Pistes were all well maintained each night. Very good ski schools. We used the excellent Prosneige. Loads of good and reasonably priced resturants, both in the village and on the pistes. We had the basic Val Thorens plus Oreille lift pass and that kept us busy for the whole week. We will visit Val Thorens again. Tweet 1. Val Thorens has enjoyed snowfalls almost every week since the end of October. Lifts have been open since November 23rd and conditions couldn't be any better. Current snow depths are pretty impressive, with over a metre on the slopes with plenty of fresh powder all around thanks to the snowfalls throughout the week, which today have turned into a full-on blizzard.
