Thinking of getting a tattoo on your vagina, snatch, taco, vadge, peach, woohoo, girly parts or vajayjay?
If so, here’s some helpful information that just might help you make up your mind about inking your private area.
Some of our users liked our penis tattoo article and requested us to do this one.
A common misconception, is that a vagina tattoo only applies to the actual vagina itself. This is not the case, the term “vagina tattoo” applies to the pelvic area as a whole. Where the pubic hair grows, and that which can be concealed by standard panties, falls under this category. Some artists may only consider anything below the pantie-line of low rider panties as falling under vagina tattoos. Others use the pantie-line of standard panties to determine what is considered a vagina tattoo.
Ultimately this is nothing more then semantics. Artists use the varying boarder lines to either set price guides, or for marketing purposes. Not everyone responds well to the idea of getting a “vagina” tattoo, but are OK with a “lower tummy”, “groin”, “inner hip/thigh” or a “pelvic” tattoo.
In this article, we will be including all of these areas. So any tattoos that are found below the lower abdominal muscle, near the groin (including the front of the hip) and on or around the vagina itself, will be treated as a vagina tattoo. Consult with your artists, to see what they regard as a vagina tattoo, as this may or may not affect the price. It may also mean that they may not be comfortable performing the task.
Choosing to get a tattoo is always a personal choice. Where you choose to get said tattoo, could have even more diverse reasoning behind it.
Not everyone works in an industry that readily accepts visible tattoos on staff members. Alternatively, not everyone is lucky enough to live in a community, or have a family that isn’t judgmental, and is accepting of self-expression. Those of us that feel that they need to conceal their tattoos from friends and family, may want to consider getting their tattoo in their pelvic region. Most styles of pants, undergarments, and swimwear can effectively conceal the area. Meaning that only those who they wish to see the tattoo(s), are more likely to be the only people who actually see them.
Many women have scars and stretchmarks below their lower abdominal muscles. Be it a result of tummy tucks, abdominal surgery, C-sections, pregnancy or weight gain. Some women find these blemishes to be unsightly, which impacts their confidence.
Sex becomes uncomfortable, as they feel self-conscious about the marks. Many of these women may feel that the marks are a turn off for any partner, and may focus more on hiding them, then losing themselves in the moment.
By concealing these marks, many women find that their confidence is boosted, and that their sex life is improved. This isn’t to say that their partner(s) are more attracted to them now, but that women are more confident about their bodies and able to relax more during sex.
There are many styles of tattooing methods that can be used by these women.
For some women, getting a vagina tattoo is no different to getting any other part of their body tattooed. That is to say, that they are expressing themselves, making a statement or wanting to draw attention to that area of their body.
Decorative, humorous and cheeky design may be used, or sexually suggestive imagery may be used to achieve the desired affect.
Your personal pain tolerance will need to be considered. If you’re the type to squirm when getting a tattoo, not only could this affect the quality of the end result, it could also lead to nerve damage making the area less sensitive.
If you’ve never had a tattoo before its best advised that you get one done somewhere else on your body first. As concealing a tattoo with clothing is easier to do in this area of the body, consider having your first tattoo done on your glutes (A.K.A your Butt). This is a more fleshy area and will allow you to test your tolerance for pain. They are also just as easily concealed by the same clothing as a vagina tattoo.
The day before you get the tattoo done, you should prepare for it by getting the area waxed to remove all of the pubic hair. Shaving is just as effective for removing the hair, but as the hair is only shortened in length, it does grow back faster which can make the recovery process more irritating.
Do not get a wax on the same day as the tattoo, as you will need to let the skin recover. Waxing the skin can leave it inflamed and irritated, this is a bad time to tattoo the skin no matter where it is located on the body. Let the skin recover before getting it tattooed.
The artist will most likely still give it a quick shave to ensure that as much of the hair has been removed as possible.
Going in with a full bush, would only make it more difficult to shave. The artist may even outright refuse to do it until you’ve cleared the area beforehand. Remove as much hair as possible from the area, even the surrounding area that is not being tattooed, as this will make it easier for the artist to work without getting hair caught in their equipment.
On the day of the booking, have a shower/bath before going in. The artist is going to be having their face in your crutch while they do the tattoo, so try to clean yourself as much as possible prior to the appointment, especially during summer.
Trying to book in an appointment that coincides with that time of the month, can be difficult. If the day of the appointment is during your period, use a fresh tampon prior to attending the appointment. Don’t worry too much if you have a heavy flow and a single tampon will not be enough to last the duration of the tattooing process. Most artists will allow you to take a break and change your feminine hygiene products.
One thing that most people over looking when getting a tattoo, is the impact that it can have on both your exercise regiment and your sex life. During the recover period, the tattoo may make it necessary to avoid physical activity. If the tattoo is in a location that will be exposed to constant friction or impact, the healing process could take even longer, if it is constantly exposed to external irritations.
The same thing applies to sex. Two bodies rubbing against each other, can cause friction across the healing tattoo. Not to mention the heat and sweat that can be generated in the area, could cause unpleasant sensations. Bodily fluids that get into the healing wound of the tattoo, can also cause infections.
This includes not only intercourse, but also oral sex and masturbation. Ask your artist how long should you need to wait. They may advise a time frame, or given the location of the tattoo, what you will need to watch out for.
Depending on the follow up care and your personal healing factor this could be as little as 1-2 weeks, or up to 6 months. Drinking lots of water can help to speed up the healing process, but if it makes you go to the toilet more often, this could have other implications depending on where the tattoo is located.
Ideally, you will need to wait for the “onion skin” and scabbing to go away. This can help to prevent infection and tearing of the skin around the new tattoo during exercise and intercourse. This does not mean that the tattoo is fully healed however.

Aside from the obvious “Is it for Show or to Conceal”, you may want to ask yourself how is it to be viewed. Unlike a penis tattoo , which is rather limited in how it can be seen/presented. A vagina tattoo can be more expressive and shown off in a variety of different ways, both modest, and sexually.
Much like a Tramp Stamp/Lower Back tattoo, a vagina tattoo can draw the eye to that area of your body. It can look elegant and intriguing, making people wonder what else lies beneath, it could accentuate your natural curves, or even tend into a belly tattoo design. Belly tattoos fall into a gray area. As they sit low on the belly, they could be viewed as extending down towards the vagina, or up from the vagina. We are including a few of these large vagina tattoo designs/low sitting belly tattoo in our examples.
You may even want to consider how the tattoo is to be viewed. Just as clothing can easily conceal the tattoo(s), being naked can also affect what is being seen. While standing up, the tattoo could look different from the front compared to when you are lying down with your legs apart. Another design some people use, involves the tattoo being viewed from behind while the person is bent over.
This can make a vagina tattoo more erotic and alluring then most other tattoos, even without the sexually explicated content. Always look for a design that suits your personality, or the desired outcome, and remember:
I did not know that it’s alright getting a pelvic tattoo, the ones shown are beautiful. And have me reconsidering it as not as tasteful. Would like too have seen one in worn in old English wrighting.
