The Platform

Virtuse Exchange is based on VIRTs (standing for Virtuse Token), an ERC20 compliant token.The token is used for all trading activities on the platform. The activities include, but are not limited to, trading, settlement of contracts, insurance, and leverage. For now, the Virtuse platform allows the trading of crypto currencies, forwards, and commodity futures. However, in a second phase, we plan to extend the platform to the trading of equities, ETF, bonds and other types of assets.Token holders can operate on the Virtuse platform as traders or originators Originators guarantee each trade by providing collateral against the risk of default by the traders (counterparty risk).Our current prototype allows users to list Smart Contracts, view contract details, see order books, and place buy and sell orders.

Smart Contracts

Our Exchange uses Smart Contracts for DACT creation. Every day, it calculates positions of traders

on both sides of the trade:

– In case the price of the underlying asset hits the floor or ceiling price, it automatically settles the trade on behalf of one of the sides.

– In case the underlying asset is within the floor and ceiling price, the trade is held until settlement date. At settlement date, it splits the collateral funds in a proportion of a deviation from the initial asset price.

In order to protect investors and traders against the potential volatility of the VIRT, Smart Contracts may refer to another currency for reference, whether it be a fiat currency or a cryptocurrency.

For example, a Smart Contract for delivery of oil in six months may refer to USD or Bitcoin. All trades are effectively paid with the VIRT, however. The amount in VIRTs is set by the exchange rate between the currency of reference and the VIRT at the date of the trade.

Arbitration Procedure

In case of technical glitches, material human errors, litigation between an insurer and a trader, issues with the settlement, or any other issues related to a Smart Contract, an arbitration procedure allows both sides to settle the disputes in a fast, effective, and low-cost way.

Arbitrators may be individuals, companies, financial institutions, or other entities. The list of available arbitrators is public, along with their fees, and each Smart Contract must include an uneven list of arbitrators (typically three) appointed to settle any dispute related to that contract. The goal is to settle any dispute within two weeks, and most disputes within a few days.

VIRT Token

After successfully setting up Phase 1 of the platform (enabling to trade with current cryptocurrencies), Virtuse Exchange will issue VIRTs. The VIRT will run on the Ethereum blockchain with ERC20.

The Ethereum blockchain enables us to easily create much more complex systems with very little entry costs. Ethereum-based tokens rely on the well-established Ethereum infrastructure, benefiting from several advantages:

Security and predictability (as opposed to, for example,having to run an independent blockchain network)
Use of robust and well-supported clients (Ethereum-based tokens can be managed with official Ethereum clients)
High liquidity (interchangeable with other Ethereum-based tokens or Ether)
Easier listing on exchanges with infrastructure already in place
Ethereum Smart Contracts enable a very transparent and secure way of profit-sharing among the token holders.
