VEON AdTech in Faces. Issue #10

What does your job involve?
I develop and optimize user interfaces for complex technical applications. My main focus is on creating visually appealing and intuitive interfaces while maintaining their functionality. I also integrate AI to enhance the user experience.
How do you manage to balance the visual and functional components of interfaces?
It's crucial to understand the target audience and the tasks they'll perform with our analytical tools. I strive for minimalist designs to avoid cluttering the interface, but I also use visual accents to highlight key information and improve data perception.
How do you take into account the needs of different types of users (analysts, marketers, developers) when designing interfaces?
I conduct research and interviews with representatives of each group to understand their goals, workflows, and pain points. Then, I design interfaces that can adapt to various use cases, allowing users to customize the display of data and functional panels based on their needs.
Do you use artificial intelligence in your work?
Absolutely. We not only develop AI-powered products for businesses but also utilize AI extensively in our work. In 2024, it's an indispensable tool for any specialist. AI helps me analyze information, automate repetitive tasks, and create personalized interfaces tailored to individual users.
Can you give an example of when you had to defend your design decisions to the technical team? How did this affect the project?
Once, I suggested using interactive elements on a map to improve data perception, but the technical team found it too complex. I convinced them to give me time to create a prototype and demonstrate the enhanced visualization. Eventually, we agreed on a solution and implemented it into the product.
Tell us about a case where your design impacted the performance of an analytical product.
For a geoanalytics team, I designed an interface with 2D and 3D map modes, allowing users to analyze data from different perspectives. I also added features like map layer switching and address search to facilitate data exploration.
What is more important to you when designing an interface: speed of information processing or accuracy of its visualization?
While both are important, I prioritize the accuracy of visualization. Even the fastest processing is useless if the results are unclear. Accurate visualization builds user trust and supports informed decision-making.
How do you see the future of UI/UX design in the context of growing AI and machine learning capabilities?
I believe AI and machine learning will enable us to create highly personalized interfaces that anticipate users' needs and provide tailored recommendations.
Do you encounter technical limitations of platforms when implementing advanced AI features in the interface?
Yes, frequently. However, I'm fortunate to work with a collaborative team. We find compromises between design ideas and technical constraints by simplifying the interface or focusing on features that the platform supports best.
What UX practices and approaches do you apply to create adaptable interfaces?
I use a flexible modular design approach, allowing for easy changes and adaptations. Early prototyping and testing help identify issues and refine the design.
