DEAR AMY: My husband and I have been dissatisfied with our jobs for the past year, so three weeks ago we decided that we needed some time to figure out our futures.
We gave up our condo and moved in with my mother. She has a one-bedroom apartment. We decided to live with her while we regroup. She has given us her room, and is sleeping on the couch.
One problem: My mom insists on wearing to bed what she would if she were home alone — her underwear!
Sometimes she wears a tank top or camisole, but most times it’s just a bra and high-waisted granny panties. She doesn’t parade around in them, but we have both walked into the living room to the sight of her standing there in just her undies.
This is OK when you are young, but my mom is 47!
We thought that if we bought her some bikini underwear and cute sleep sets, she’d get the hint. Instead, she told us to take them back.
My husband got offended and told her that if she doesn’t want to cover up then she should move in with my aunt until we get our situation figured out.
I agree with him. Her moving out would make things easier for us. She says that we are making a big deal out of nothing.

DEAR FRUSTRATED: How horrible for you both to have to be exposed to the hideousness of a middle-age woman’s body!
I can only imagine the trauma for your husband as he leaves the cozy confines of his mother-in-law’s bedroom, only to encounter her in the flesh. And wearing unfashionable “granny panties,” no less! I shudder to think of it.
Fortunately for you both, I have a very easy and instant solution to your problem.
It involves you packing up your suitcases and finding another party to crash.
You both strike me as not only supremely selfish, but fairly dim. Your mother, obviously, is staking a claim to her home. Good for her.
Her technique for getting you out of her house is brilliant.

At first I thought I could accept it, but I also recently learned that he was previously married.
I haven’t confronted him about either of these facts, yet, because I am afraid.
I cannot afford our place on my own and do not have enough money saved right now to start over.
I believe he loves me, but I can’t understand why he lied. I also don’t know how to confront him.
DEAR CONFUSED: I can understand why you might feel afraid. If this person (whom you believed you knew so intimately) has deceived you about these basic facts, you can only imagine what else he might be hiding.
I suggest you find someplace else to stay, in anticipation of a conversation that might turn into a confrontation, and/or a breakup. See if you can bunk in with a friend or family member for a short time.
I assume you intend to end the relationship. Put your plan in place, and then ask him to meet you in a public, neutral location, and, as calmly as possible, present him with what you’ve learned, and listen to his response.
If you hold the lease on your apartment, he should move out, and you will have to find a roommate to help share expenses. You need only be brave enough to take this one step at a time.
I guess I had never thought about the idea that a person who transitioned from female to male can get pregnant.
All the same, once I pondered this, I realized that I agreed with you! Babies do come into families in all sorts of ways. In the end, honoring the family is all that matters.

Tham Heng Yew was arrested five more times between then and 2018, for targeting women at places including the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), where he was a student, and shopping malls .
The 27-year-old Singaporean was sentenced on Wednesday (March 4) to 44 weeks' jail after pleading guilty to 29 counts of insulting a woman's modesty and one count of being in possession of obscene films.
Another 138 charges for similar offences were considered during sentencing.
The reasons he was arrested and released on bail multiple times were not stated in court documents.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Kenneth Kee said that Tham was a "recalcitrant serial offender" who recorded videos of his victims by hiding his mobile phone inside his shoe.
The DPP added: "With the camera phone hidden in his shoe, the accused would walk around various parts of Singapore looking for female victims who were attractive to him. "He would follow these women looking for an opportune moment for him to surreptitiously position his hidden camera underneath their dresses or skirts in order to capture footage of their underwear."
A district court heard that after each arrest, items such as his shoes and mobile phones were seized for investigation.
Undeterred, Tham would obtain new shoes and mobile phones before targeting more women.
Tham's second arrest was in January 2016 after he was caught filming up a woman's skirt in a clothing store at the Jem shopping mall in Jurong.
He was later released, only to strike again at SIM in March that year.
Tham, then a business management student, was spotted by a schoolmate placing his foot underneath a woman's skirt for a few seconds before walking away.
The 22-year-old man confronted Tham, who tried to run away but failed.
The police were notified and he was arrested .
In February the following year, he targeted a 14-year-old girl who was in a shop at the 313@Somerset shopping mall in Orchard Road.
DPP Kee said: "Sensing that something was amiss, the victim's mother walked over and confronted the accused, asking him if there was a camera on his shoe.
"The victim's mother then attempted to grab hold of the accused's long-sleeved shirt to prevent him from doing so. The accused struggled to break free, tearing his shirt badly in the process before he successfully ran away."
In the course of the struggle, Tham accidentally dropped several personal belongings, which included a wallet containing his personal identification cards. These items were later handed over to the police and he was arrested for the fourth time.
In March 2018, he was arrested for the fifth time after he was spotted behaving suspiciously inside at a cosmetics store in Ion Orchard shopping mall. Multiple incriminating videos were then found in his possession.
Tham was arrested for the sixth and final time four months later. This time, he was caught behaving suspiciously in a clothing store at the same mall.
For each charge of insulting a woman's modesty, Tham could have been jailed for up to a year and fined.
