Minecraft is more than a game. It is one the most popular video games ever, with more than 140 millions active users each month.
Mojang Studios, the game's developer, frequently updates the game because it's an online-only title. Some of those can cause serious issues.
Recently, some players complained that animals, villagers, and armor stands were disappearing for them on the Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
According to recent reports (1.2,3,4,5.6,7.8,8), many Minecraft players are having problems with the new launcher. Some claim that the game doesn't launch and that there are several errors. Others report that the launcher doesn’t load for them.
Having said that, the game is unplayable for everyone affected by the new Minecraft launcher not working issue. We can just hope Minecraft developers take a look into the matter and acknowledge it.

Whenever I try to start my minecraft launcher, I keep getting this error message: "Minecraft Launcher is currently not available in your account. Hello all! I just installed the new minecraft launcher through the xbox app on Windows 11. It seems like it resets every time I launch the new minecraft launcher. I'm bonnie and you are I have to log in every time, and my profiles don’t save (optifine, vivecraft ect It just resets back down to having the 1.17.1 account. Hello! I tried to install the new launcher today but it wouldn't launch when I tried to launch. Nothing indicated that it was functioning. I tried re-installing Minecraft, removing the old launcher, etc. but it doesn't want to open. It works fine if I use the old launcher again. Any idea on what might be wrong? (Source)
This isn't the only problem Minecraft players face right now. Others complained of having difficulty installing the new launcher.
So, I open my launcher, and there's a red bar at the bottom announcing the "fancy" new launcher. I click it to take me to the Microsoft Store, where I click Install. Then... nothing happens. There's no download window, there's no progress bar and nothing in my downloaded folder. What is the problem? (Source)
I can't install the new windows 10 Minecraft launcher, I can't install it from microsoft store for some reason and downloading the file doesn't work too (Source)
There is also an issue with the Optifine install. Many users report that the Optifine version is not installed for them, with some reporting that it is causing system crashes.
My computer keeps crashing every time I try and re-install optifine so that I can play minecraft with it on the new launcher (they unified bedrock and Java launchers). Any tips on how to fix this? (Source)

It turns out that the problem is not Minecraft developers' fault, but Optifine. Since then, the company has acknowledged the problem and promised a fix soon.
Small Update to the Announcement: Currently, updating your Minecraft launcher causes OptiFine's installer to not work properly, it won't find the new launcher_profiles.json file. It was still not ready for release due to the numerous issues it had. If and when Mojang Studio acknowledged the issues with the new Minecraft launcher not working for many, we will update this space with more information.

1:19 PM (IST). The game maker acknowledged that the Minecraft launcher wasn't working and said they're working to fix it.
