Update 2.1.0

Update 2.1.0

RustTweaker

Update 2.1.0 is now available for download!

After the Open Week and the massive 2.0.0 release, we were flooded with bug reports and logs. Thank you for all the feedback! Over the past two weeks we've been heads-down fixing issues, rewarding bug hunters, and putting together this big bug-fix patch. Most of what you see below came directly from your support tickets. That said, we snuck in some new stuff too!

Benchmark improvements

No more integrated GPUs sitting at 98,000 points in the leaderboard!
We reworked how the app detects your GPU — instead of pulling data from CPU-Z, we now get it directly from Windows. If you're running a discrete GPU, only that card's results will show up in the leaderboard.

We also significantly expanded benchmark compatibility. They now work on any screen resolution, including ultrawide monitors. Audio mute is now available across all benchmarks, and we fixed compatibility issues with Discord overlay and HDR — neither should interfere with the app anymore.

If a benchmark session closes incorrectly, the app will now save your settings and offer to restore them on next launch. Previously this happened automatically with no warning whatsoever. Oops.

Tests run on Staging branches of the game are no longer counted in the leaderboard. The benchmark itself is still fully available, and the report can be used however you like.

Users with monitors below 1920×1080 can now fully use the Optimization tab. You won't make it into the leaderboard at that resolution, but you can view your scores, run all tests, and apply all optimization tweaks. Speaking of which:

Optimization tweaks

We fixed the problematic ones. "Auto page file detection" now works correctly. "Disable Xbox Game Bar" no longer triggers that annoying Windows notification when you launch the game (sorry about that). "Disable unnecessary services" now properly accounts for differences between Windows versions and builds. We quietly improved a few other tweaks along the way too.

Leaderboard

Fixed an incorrect device filter — previously, filtered results could show entries from the wrong devices. The chances of this happening are now significantly reduced. The filter UI has been improved as well, and a scroll-to-top button has been added to the leaderboard.

Dashboard

The dashboard now shows a proper score distribution histogram, and the dotted line correctly reflects your position relative to other systems in the ranking. If your rank hasn't been determined yet, the line stays hidden. If you've just completed your first benchmark, your position will appear within an hour.

Benchmark comparison

As promised — benchmarks can now be compared. Not just static hardware and system specs, but charts too. You can add up to 4 tests to a comparison, including other users' results. Reports can be shared via a code. PDF/JPEG/PNG export is coming soon.

Interface

Fixed visual bugs across various tabs, added missing animations and effects, and unified how RAM frequency is displayed (effective frequency only, everywhere) and how RAM usage is shown (now in gigabytes across the board). There are too many interface changes to list, so we'll just say it plainly: the app got noticeably more polished.

Server optimization

We did a deep overhaul of the backend. Previously, processing a single benchmark report could take up to 20 seconds on the database side, causing delays, crashes, and timeouts. No wonder our servers went down when over 4,000 reports hit them in a single week. The server can now handle 100 benchmarks per second. Data is properly cached on both the client and server side. The leaderboard now updates every hour instead of once a day.

On top of that, we started serious structural work on the service's internal codebase. Subscriptions are now issued instantly with no delays, the auto-renewal system has been cleaned up, the user database has been optimized, internal support tools have been improved, the Steam stats collection service has been fixed up, and a whole lot of other genuinely important improvements were made. These are probably the least exciting changes to read about — but trust us, they're significant enough that we could've called this RustTweaker 3.0.0. We'll stay humble though, and just share the traditional changelog :)
