THIS stunning young woman has embraced her natural body hair with the support of her understanding husband after ditching razors over a year ago and has been fighting against the strict beauty standards of smoothness ever since.
Like most females, secretary Sonia Cytrowska (28) from Gdynia, Poland first started to remove her body hair when she was 12 but thanks to airbrushing in magazines and on television, she constantly found herself comparing her hair to other girls who had more or less hair than her.
Just over a year ago, Sonia decided to stop shaving after she realised that she was removing her hair due to social pressures and finding out that many hair removal methods are bad for the environment and also time consuming. She would spend at least three hours every week to stay smooth which left her feeling down and insecure about her natural look. She started sharing pictures on Instagram under the hashtag, #bodyhairmovement .
Sonia admits that her husband, Tobiasz, of three years struggled with her natural appearance at first but said that their love conquered any of his confusion on the matter.
“I was looking at other body hair positive accounts and it was much easier for me to start my new, hairy life with support of others, both men and women,” said Sonia.
“I’ve been shaving since I was twelve and all my life I was feeling worse and less worthy than other girls who didn’t have so much hair on their bodies.
“I started my Instagram when I was still insecure about my natural look and I wanted to find other women who knew what I felt like and men who won’t be disgusted by my natural appearance.
“At first my husband was shocked because he’s known me for eight years and I was always shaving all my body. And actually, he prefers a shaved appearance but we talked a lot, I explained to him that it is so important for me, to live with my natural body hair and he decided to accept me and support me.
“There were tough times but conscious love and commitment won.
“The hardest thing was to accept myself and to feel confident with my hairy body in front of others, even if they whisper and stare at me. It was hard to accept that sometimes people can reject me if they will know how I really look like. Body hair in my society is a taboo”.
Sonia admits that she does still have days where she feels under pressure to look a certain way but she hopes that through social media she can show other women that having body hair is both normal and beautiful. She shared her advice to others.
“At home, with my husband or friends I feel safe and accepted. I can easily show my body hair and it is natural for me,” she added.
“But it is still hard when I meet new people, for example when I was searching for a new job or going to lectures at university.
“Sometimes there are days where I don’t care what anyone in this world is thinking about my body hair, because I fell in love with my natural body and I believe that every woman should have a choice.
“I choose not to shave because I find myself beautiful and it’s very comfortable to live that way but of course days where I question why I choose to fight with all these beauty standards and ask why I am so stubborn.
“I receive a lot of messages from women who are at the very point where I was one year ago. I talk with them, sometimes we send pics and we support each other.
“My biggest dream is to see women shaved and women with unshaved body hair in the streets of big cities. Both accept each other, because what they do with their body is their choice.
“I hope that my account shows to other women that body hair is beautiful and normal. You can be an independent woman, working in a large corporation, studying in your dream direction, be loved by husband and still have a hairy and natural body.
“My kind of advice is if you are afraid of losing your friends or partner, think about whether you want to live with people for whom you have to pretend to be someone you are not.
“This thought helped me break through at the beginning of my #bodyhairmovement journey.”

unshaved models???

I shoot fine art nudes and prefer the look before the 90's porn industry affected the modeling industry.
Today, I struggle seeking unshaved, unpierced, untatooed talent.
What is disheartening is the abusive side notes sent to me about why do I require hair and how much unshaved am I seeking? "is a landing strip OK" they ask?
Now with Photoshop I can take of tatoos and change most body modifications as well as remove hair. But if for some ungodly reason I want to capture images of the woman God created - I have a tough time ADDING natural looking hair to a shaved model - it is VERY easy to remove unwanted hair with photoshop.
So why is there such a hatred of the "all natural look" thesedays? or are they attempting to create a prepubscent look? We are NOT talking about professional models who do lingerie and bikini gigs for a living.
can you imagine these same folks still trying to shave themsleves at 60, 70 and beyond :-)

There are plenty unshaved models, you just have to look harder. Or book a model a month in advance, it will work.
It's a personal choice. Be specific in your castings and select only those models who fit your needs. It is not your place to tell them how to groom just as it is not their place to tell you what to capture.
How is a model asking if a landing strip is OK "abusive" and "disheartening"?

I have never had a problem finding an unshaved model. I guess you just have to know where to look. I usually try to draw on my horde of hippie friends. I guess it would be harder to find someone without a tat or piercing but I've never found those things to be a problem.

There are plenty of models who don't shave, you just have to look harder or book a model a while in advance so she can grow out some pubes. Either way... how much women shave their areas or why is probably none of your buisness.
second notion to the month in advance.. if she'll go for it.. problem solved but good luck finding it that way on your own.. its almost looked at as bad hygiene these days.
and on a personal note.. aside from the modeling world, any womans boyfriend or husband would most likely prefer NOT to be picking short and curleys out his mouth during.. well.. yeah.

i've gone from full bush, to bald, to everything in between.
all a matter of my preference.

Not my place to tell a model what to do. Is my place to decide what I need for a shoot. For me photographic imagery is entirely about getting a specific vision out of my head and in to print. If that vision has or doesn't have hair then that's what I cast for, if it's not important to the vision, I'll not specify. I also don't think it's inappropriate to ask, to help formulate a shooting plan that may include or exclude certain shots subject to the amount of 'foliage'.
Booking a month in advance is no help for those that use a laser and only minimal help for those that wax
There have been a number of threads on this topic, and yes, there are a number of us who don't shave if you look.
I wish I had that "aw gee not this shit again" photo. It's all very well and good to book a month in advance except that you can't shoot anything at all for the time you're growing it out and that really eats into profits if you live on paid shoots. It looks fine when it's freshly shaved and it looks fine when fully grown out, but any time in between? Totally unacceptable for photos. Nothing attractive at all about half inch long stubble around the crotch. There's money to be made if you don't shave anything, not armpits, legs, bush, anything. But that's not my preference and I'd lose the money I'd make shooting with people who want at least some things shaved, like legs. I don't do my arms or my topfluff but Everything Else Must Go.
I definitely prefer shaved. Or at least nicely trimmed. But all in all, yes it is just personal preference. I have seen awesome photos in all manner of hair, or lack thereof.
I like it when the model has the Gucci logo shaved into her hair
I did a shoot once where, after I got the pictures back, it looked as if a ? had been photoshopped into my fluff. He didn't add it in after, I guess it's just the way the fur was laying. crazy stuff!

Yes. That's exactly it. They're all lookin' to get their underage nudity fix.
What a ridiculous conclusion to arrive at. I suspect sometimes that it's only because of how common this nonsense is when speaking to people about female shaved genitalia that others feel even remotely intellectually justified in prancing out the silliness.
It's all preference/individual based.

As a HUGE fan of 1970's PENHOUSE shoots, I LOVE the "natural" look. I really don't find a totally shaved mons pubis all that attractive.

that's about how much i like to shave off and keep on. I don't know....... it's just a preference.
