engagement rings

An engagement ring, sometimes called an engagement band, is simply a band of metal with an engagement ring setting on one side and a wedding band on the opposite side. An engagement ring generally represents a promise by the wearer to be a wife for a specified period of time. This ring must have a wedding band, usually made of gold or some other precious metal, that will be joined permanently after the marriage. Because of this, engagement rings tend to be quite expensive as well as very visible, which can be a source of considerable embarrassment for many people. Fortunately, modern technology has provided us with new ways to display our rings without being so obvious.

For example, many engagement rings now come in the form of pendants that sit atop the wedding band. This provides the bride with a way to both wear their engagement rings and at the same time add a small accent to her otherwise plain wedding band. Many engagement rings now also feature a matching chain of pearls that run around the entire band, adding yet another visual flair to the set. Other rings have smaller accents that sit just beneath the wedding band itself, like small diamonds set in a zirconium-encrusted gold band, or a silver ring set with a single cubic zirconia stone. Even engagement rings that don't feature a wedding band can still feature beautiful settings that match the wedding band, making for a lovely pair of earrings that will be enjoyed throughout the rest of your life.

If you would prefer to wear your engagement rings in public without being so conspicuous, there are now engagement ring sets that are available that feature the engagement ring as a separate band that can be worn on its own. These sets often feature a clear, colored gemstone set on either side of the band, but sometimes feature a band of black metal that is plain or decorative but not distracting. To date, the most popular style of these rings is probably the "prong setting," wherein each prong has a diamond or other stone set just below the band, creating a row of sparkling gems that can be worn on their own. These rings look amazing on either their own or as a part of a set, and they are a great way to show off your engagement ring without being as conspicuous as a large ring that's simply worn with no other jewelry.
