This is a compilation of other people’s selves: faces, hands, words and gestures. They end up being a self portrait of the one gleaning them.
I was thinking about visual communication, gender performativity, and politics of identity, while forming this gathering.

Le Selfies est devenu aujourd'hui un sport international qui malheureusement ne fait pas toujours que des heureux... Voici une compilation de Selfies capturés juste avant. 1/...
2/ Le même mois, alors qu’elle conduisait , Courtney Sanford décida de mettre un Selfie d’elle sur Facebook, en y ajoutant qu’elle écoutait « Happy » de Pharrell Williams et qu’elle adorait cette chanson, qui la rendait joyeuse. Malheureusement, juste après avoir posté son statut, elle heurta un camion de plein fouet. Le choc fut fatal.
3/ Aout 2014, Oscar Otero Aguilar, jeune mexicain de 21 ans, habitué des seflies, a tenté de se prendre en photo avec son flingue. Tenant d’une main son smartphone, et de l’autre l’arme, il a accidentellement pressé la détente, la balle lui a explosé la tête, et l’a tué sur place.
4/ Le même mois, un couple de Polonais, en vacances au Portugal, a décidé de réaliser un Selfie du haut de la falaise de Cabo da Roca , une superbe zone touristique et balisée. Malheureusement, le couple a décidé de se mettre au bord d’une zone non sécurisée pour se capturer avec le décor en arrière-plan. En tentant de se prendre en Selfie, ils ont glissé vers l’arrière et chutté de 80 mètres, devant les yeux de leurs deux enfants de 5 et 6 ans.
5/ Novembre 2014, Sylwia Rajchel, étudiante polonaise en médecine de 23 ans, a voulu réaliser le Selfie parfait pendant ses vacances en Espagne. Elle s’est mise en haut du pont de Puente de Triana , au-dessus de la rivière Guadalquivir, mais a perdu l’équilibre pour finalement chuter de 4,5 mètres sur un pylône.
