Now, i perosnally haven't faced so sorry and i dont nkowa lot about this origin except that he kind of a kickstarter character or something (if someone could explain that sh*t to me that would be great). but from what i understand, the character has gotten a lot of hate lately, is it true? and if it is, why then?

People seem to hate him just because he originated from a furry artist who used him as a way to draw furry porn "convey his artistic matter". Personally, I don't mind him at all... Other than that, he could've been a good character. I mean, he fits kinda well (at this point, EVERYTHING does), and he also has this art thing going on which I personally like.

I actually like "So Sorry". Sure, the dude put in his fursona which has origins that involves a fat fetish of sorts, but the guy donated about $1,000 for Undertale to become a thing (Y'know, that game 90% of you guys orgasm over?). Not to mention the fetish is non-existant in Undertale, so it's very harmless in-game.

this conversation has already been discussed a lot and people came just simply to this; the character is originally used for fetish art as a furrsona. The reward for the kickstarter (for the contributed amount) was to have a character of yourself in the game. People are disgusted by the origin and use of the OC and thus are hating. Even while the character in the game itself has no indication or relation showing it is fetish related.

I don't give two ♥♥♥♥♥ about the character or the fact that the guy has a fetish. The problem is that he donated SO much money to the game, just to get his fetish character in it.

It's a fursona, the guy furry representation, and also, a fetish character... instead of doing an original new character, he just did that. Now look at Muffet, she is another character that was made like So Sorry, the difference? is a new character just created for this game, is not a representation of the person who donate the money and is not a character made for fetish.

Boards Undertale Explain the so sorry controversy to me.
People love to hate on anything they don't understand or identify with, especially furries since they can't fathom the fact that some people unload their fantasies a certain way, personally I think they're the same as the people who give heat to supposed "SJWs", "I don't like it, so it's weird and sick and it sucks".
Even without knowing there's existing NSFW art out there, it's an extremely tacky and out-of-place character in the Undertale universe, which is probably the biggest reason he's hidden so far out of the way. I only watched a video of the battle before reading about the character being a backer reward, and I could immediately tell it was either someone's fursona OC forcibly added at the last moment, or a parody of furry stereotypes in general. It hits so many bad cliches of the fandom it's not even funny. On the other hand, nothing would've tipped me off that Muffet was fanmade, except for maybe wondering why such an interesting character with such a well-designed and unique fight doesn't really get much spotlight in the story.

...I didn't find the boss inclusion bad. I actually kind of dig the fight and gimmick. Out of place, sure, but I think that was the vibe here in general. That and being out of the way to even fight is kind of telling it's meant to be something surreal.

It's something that you would only encounter if you already knew how to find it. If it played a more prominent role I would have taken issue, but instead it's pretty unobtrusive, and I can deal with that.

When you can't tell if fan art or in-game pics.
I don't see why the guy gets so much hate. It's an interesting character, and while the fetish he's based on isn't my cup of tea (I'd rather not have my boat bloated, thank you very much), it's not like the character even pushes the idea forward anywhere. Pretty much the only time it's even mentioned is that "Bloats your boat" line, which, lemme be honest: Made me chuckle. That's a clever way of saying what it is without triggering people who don't like it.
Is that line actually used in the game? The pictures on his Tumblr are things he made himself - the shop doesn't exist in-game, just the boss fight.
Self insert or not, I thought the character fit perfectly with the Undertale theme. He's like an ignorant Napstablook with stronger awkward tendencies and he's non-intentionally aggressive. I thought the personality was adorable and the design wasn't half bad, and that hasn't changed after learning about the character's origin.
It would be rad as hell if people stopped being assholes about a guy using their character (regardless of how "furry fettish trash" they think it is) and instead acknowledge that the character owner gave a big contribution to the game.
Undertale as a whole is surprisingly devoid of dragons and to be honest, I think his take is the perfect fit for one, given that the rest of the game doesn't play its monster & NPC designs straight either. Almost everything has an interesting personality, gimmick or obvious design alteration of sorts and it's a huge part of the game's charm.
losian makes a pretty good point. You don't have to condone his interests, but for somebody who put a lot of faith and cash into a game we all love, you should be treating him better. :T For shame.

It's out of the way. It's practically buried on a screen of nothing in an area on the screen that very few people will accidentally run across it themselves. And you have to manipulate system time to unlock it assuming you didn't specifically seek it out on the 10th.
Aside from being irritated by it if you somehow stumble across it by accident, this whole deal feels like people actively seeking out something they know will annoy them, seeing it, then being extremely annoyed by it and having to announce that fact to ZE ENTIRE WORLD.
I mean yeah as far as "secret boss battles!" go it's decidedly mediocre, but it's not really a battle so much as someone that tried to put a little bit of themselves into a project they loved. That's why it isn't part of the game proper.

I really don't get this mindset that because a character has some sexual/fetish interests that it somehow is forced into everything. I guess people really are just that weirded out by a subculture which doesn't shamefully hide its interests. Mind you, you still don't know about them unless you look for them , so y'know.. That requires acting like an adult and not looking at shit you don't like.
Don't find furries interesting and attractive? Great, fuck off their websites and forums then. Same as you would for any other thing you don't like! The poor guy has been harassed to hell and back for making a large contribution to the game, and that's just really sad.

I mean, putting your fetish fursona into someone else's game sounds like a really bad idea. If the guy was a buddy of mine and mentioned that was what they were doing during development, I'd chew him out for it.
But they made it work just fine. It's an interesting and amusing encounter and I think it fits into the game well enough. Maybe it could've been better if he'd designed a new character tailored to the game? Maybe a lot of things could be better if they were different. Who knows. It's fine.

Admittedly, the main reason I dislike the fight is the rules-bending that appears when you try to kill him. He has exactly 1100 HP, and takes exactly 100 damage from each hit, just so he's able to run through his speech before he dies.

I've never seen such a minor obscure optional inclusion into a game (seriosuly you have to go WAY out of your way to even know he exists if it weren't for all the drama) get so much drama surrounding it.
Okay, fine, worst case scenario someone put their fetish self insert character in the game. (which you would never even know from the character himself, you have to dig and do research to find that out in the first place) big deal, can we move on from it now and stop acting shocked and offended when half the fandom's already jacking it to borderline incest porn between toriel and the (child) protagonist?
Because even if everything bad about him is true, it's still bordering on hypocritical at this point.
