Deux perles enfin rééditées... mais chez Morello Records (Cherry Red)
Les albums de Tammy WYNETTE sont, pour l'immense majorité, toujours inédits en CD. Depuis son décès (1998), CBS/Sony enquille les compilations "Stand By Your Man" mais n'a jamais fait l'effort de magnifier la discographie pléthorique de la "First Lady". Les fans doivent se contenter des grattements de leurs vinyles. BGO a fait l'effort de remastériser les albums de Tammy avec George JONES (
Me & The First Lady / We're Gonna Hold on
), Raven a publié un twofer très soigné (
Ways to Love a Man / Tammy's Touch
) mais tout cela ne fait pas grand-chose au regard de la kyrielle de compilations post-mortem et de quelques vieux CD CBS/Sony bas-de-gamme qui traînent encore dans les stocks ; trois grands albums, pour tout dire, que l'on trouve encore en CD, et qui mériteraient un sacré lifting : 'Your Good Girl's Gonna Go Bad' (1967), 'D.I.V.O.R.C.E.' (1968), et 'Stand by Your Man' (1969) . Aujourd'hui, 'The First Lady' (1970) et 'We Sure Can Love Each Other' (1971), deux albums de la grande époque, sont de sortie en twofer : une première en CD... Hélas, chez Morello Records. Non pas que le résultat soit mauvais et, en l'espèce, le rendu sonore est plutôt bon qui se fonde sur une licence Sony UK ; mais cet éditeur n'est pas celui qui propose les produits les plus soignés. L'on est, souvent, assez loin de BGO, de l'australien Raven, de T. Bird Americana ou de l'allemand SPV. Pour autant, je n'irai pas bouder mon plaisir de renouer avec des disques que je sais formidables mais que je n'ai pas écouté depuis des lustres puisqu'ils n'ont jamais été reportés en CD. Autant le dire, pour situer ces deux albums dans la carrière, l'on est dans la production "post-Stand By Your Man" (1968). C'est du Billy SHERRILL cousu main et du 100% Tammy WYNETTE pur jus. Partant, un peu monochrome : de grosses tranches d'American way of life déclinées avec la projection douloureuse d'une chanteuse fabuleuse qui me semble avoir tout copié de Sa Majesté Connie SMITH. Dernier aspect. Publié au Royaume-Unis et fabriqué en UE, il est vendu 7 livres sterling sur Amazon.co.uk. L'on imagine mal que l'on doive l'acquérir pour plus de 10 euros.

Digitally remastered two-fer containing a pair of albums form the country great – The First Lady and We Sure Can Love Each Other. When these two albums were released in 1970 and 1971 Tammy was the hottest property in country music having won the Country Music Association's Female Vocalist of the Year in 1968, 1969 and 1970. The First Lady includes the #1 single 'Run, Woman, Run' and the title track from We Sure Can Love Each Other reached #2 in the Billboard Country Charts. Both albums were produced by Billy Sherrill and feature background vocals by the Jordanaires. In 1998 Tammy was posthumously inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, having sold more than 30 million records, reached No. 1 some 20 times and become the first female Country artist to sell a million albums. These albums appear for the first time on CD.
