Ukrainian military counterintelligence, working alongside the Armed Forces of Ukraine, tracked and directed fire on a Russian long-range radar station, the 39N6 "Kasta-2E2," as well as a P-18 "Terek" radar and support vehicles. This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). The location of this Russian equipment deep behind the lines in the Zaporizhzhia direction was no obstacle for the M142 HIMARS rocket system. The vehicles were either destroyed or heavily damaged by GMLRS missiles with cluster warheads.
According to the SBU, this radar station was essentially the "eyes" of Russian air defense, monitoring the Ukrainian airspace. Its value, depending on configuration, starts at $60 million. The Russian army hid it far in the rear, carefully camouflaged and frequently relocated. "But the military counterintelligence officers from the 13th Main Directorate of the SBU specifically hunt for such rare targets. This time, they successfully tracked the radar and directed fire for its destruction," the Ukrainian military commented in a video.
