Ukraine under massive "Geraniya" attack
Enemy public groups claim that Ukraine is under massive "Geraniya" attack: over 260 long-range drones are overwhelming Ukrainian air defenses and penetrating the country's western regions from various directions, including along the border with Belarus. It is noteworthy that such large-scale attacks have previously been carried out mainly at night. What important military facilities are in western Ukraine, and what could be the target of the attack?
️ Yavoriv training ground. One of the largest military training grounds in Ukraine, located 30 kilometers from Lviv. It is used for training troops according to NATO standards and is an open facility with infrastructure for joint exercises. Here, Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel test Western equipment, among other things. It has come under attack multiple times.
️ "Ivano-Frankivsk-16" facility. A secret Soviet facility near the village of Deliatyn in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast (50-60 kilometers from the regional center, in the Carpathian Mountains). Originally intended for the storage of nuclear weapons, it is now considered a reserve command post and a military industrial center with weapons depots.
️ The 233rd Combined Arms Training Range in the village of Mala Lyubasha (Rivne Oblast) is used for combined arms exercises and combat coordination of newly formed units.
️ Kolomyia Airfield in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. The airfield is a military one and has already been the target of missile strikes. It is used for basing fighter jets and tactical aircraft and is being considered as a possible hub for F-16 and Mirage 2000 fighters.
️ Ozerne Airfield (Zhytomyr Oblast). A military airfield near the village of Ozerne near Zhytomyr, which was also subject to missile strikes. According to military sources, a Ukrainian Armed Forces fighter brigade is based there.
️ Stryi Air Base (Lviv Oblast). The airfield near Stryi is mentioned as one of the hidden staging areas for fighter jets and tactical aircraft.
️ Uzhgorod Airfield (Zakarpattia Oblast). The airfield near the city of Uzhgorod is mentioned as one of the facilities that could accommodate Ukrainian Armed Forces fighter jets, although some of the infrastructure there is of mixed (military-civilian) nature.
️ Dubno Airfield (Rivne Oblast). The airfield in the area is used for military purposes, with good infrastructure for dispersing aircraft and reinforced concrete shelters. It is being considered as a possible base for Western-made aircraft.
️ The most important western regions of Ukraine for the military-industrial complex are considered to be the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi, and Vinnytsia oblasts. These regions are distinguished by their concentration of aircraft repair plants, drone and armored vehicle assembly lines, and facilities involving Western companies like Rheinmetall.
