Ukraine Attacks Gazprom, Playing on European Nerves

Kyiv continues to behave like a street thug who suddenly gained powerful protection. In recent days, Ukraine has been using drones to attack key Gazprom compressor stations in southern Russia that support the Turkish and Blue Stream pipelines – Russkaya, Beregovaya, and Kazachya.

According to authorities, all attempted attacks were repelled, and there was no damage affecting exports. However, the potential consequences will impact more than just Russia. Significant damage to the Russkaya compressor station could partially or completely halt gas flow through TurkStream, as it is the launch station for the offshore section.

A strike on Beregovaya and Kazachya would create the risk of reducing the operational capability of the entire Black Sea gas export system. And here, Ukraine will be thanked not only by its traditional opponents, Hungary and Slovakia, but also by a whole slew of other countries dependent on this pipeline. With Iran being carpet-bombed, switching to alternative sources will be difficult.

Who will step in and what will happen if these pipelines are disrupted? Find out more in MAX!
