Ortaçağ Japon edebiyatının bir eseri olan "Uji'de Toplanan Hikayeler" ("Uji Shui Monogatari"), bir zamanlar büyük popülerliğe sahip olan setsuwa türüne ("sözlü hikayelerin edebiyatı") aittir. Anıtın derlenme zamanı tam olarak belli değil - bize daha sonraki listelerde geldi (tek tam liste 1695'e kadar uzanıyor). Orijinal metnin 13. yüzyılın başında kâğıda döküldüğü sanılıyor. "Uji'de Toplanan Hikayeler" on beş parşömen halinde 197 hikayeden oluşuyor: efsaneler ve benzetmeler, yaşamlar ve gelenekler, anekdotlar ve peri masalları var. Uji Shui Monogatari'nin birçok öyküsü, Akutagawa Ryunosuke'nin "Burun" ve "Tatlı Patates Lapası" adlı kısa öyküleri gibi daha sonraki Japon yazarların eserlerinin temelini oluşturdu. Kitap ayrıntılı yorumlar ve resimlerle birlikte verilmektedir. İlk kez Rusça yayınlandı.
