First purchase in November 2015 was for a brand new camera fulfilled by Sil Micro. It came in un-padded shipping box when I opened the product box without protective packaging. I noticed black smudges all over the camera. I plugged it into my POE switch and got no power or lights on the ethernet port of the camera or switch. Plugged into the provided POE injector, power injector had light no lights from ethernet port or inside camera. When lightly shaking the camera I could hear a rattle noise of parts inside. This product appeared to me to be just a return dropped into a box and shipped. Certainly not a new product. I have returned it for a complete refund. Update (12/2/15): Second purchase to replace DOA product from other seller. This also was packaged without any water proofing material. Did not work with my POE switch so had to use the supplied brick injector. I'm disappointed with the camera. The night time lighting is awful, terrible It doesn't pass the most important element of security. Night time security. The software is nice looking but it lacks sophisticated features other software provides. You cannot timeline search video instead you get small segments recorded whether it's constantly recording or with movement. That is the biggest deal breaker for me, not being able to search the previous day because you have a few dozen snippets instead of one video to scan thorough, wow. Other disappointments. You cannot open full screen in a browser and it requires google chrome (not a deal breaker) browser. Their software is required for fullscreen viewing and only one machine can be setup to record to. It does record sound which is a good feature but the audio also picks up some atmospheric rumble. I did notice they do not provide any kind of manual or support material to read through. Just forum base support from other frustrated end users. Wow again. Update 5/11/16: I kept the camera even though I was leaning heavily to replacing with another because I just need to have security cameras outside my home. But finding affordable cameras in this class is tough to do. I haven't paid much attention to the web based software until recently when I had to reinstall the software due to my router storage was not writing the streaming video. So I reinstalled using the default settings (my PC hard drive as storage). Firmware update is always required before you can use the cameras. That's when I noticed that a firmware upgrade has new tweaks and features. Timelinesearching. I find this very useful because I have cameras set to always record. This is huge for me. So I bought a second camera (still poor packaging?!) and plan on purchasing a third soon. RSTP streaming support. No longer have to create a email username. (I thought that was dumb). There other tweaks and fixes as well Now interested again I did some adjusting in the software sharpness, brightness and adjusted the focus lense which improved the view considerably. Users have also found ways to muffle the microphone inside the housing. I originally gave this one star but with the new firmware they have upped their game. Bravo Ubiquiti!

Ubiquiti managed to improve their old airCam Bullet in every way they needed to. The old camera was really nice but had a weak mount that caused the camera (and video) to shake, had no IR support, and felt a bit on the cheap side of construction. The new UVC has addressed all of these issues in spades. The camera housing is far more study with a nice retractable sun shade, and the mount is no longer flimsy PVC but metal with tension screws in each joint to really lock it in place. It now not only supports IR but includes IR illumination in-camera making this a really nice out door camera for moderate light conditions like outside of buildings or in dark rooms. They've even gone as far to include a microphone for audio recording, perfect for listening for warning beeps in distant, unmanned, equipment closets. My complaints are very few and include some difficulty in aiming the camera. It's mount is rock solid but adjusting the multiple tension spots to get the camera just where you want it is difficult. I've dropped the small hex key they've included many times resulting in trips down a a ladder or down the stairs to retrieve it. I also wish the price point was slightly lower and closer to the old cameras $100-$120 mark opposed to this units $140. However I under stand the slight price increase with all the extras' they're providing. Included are images from my front camera that keeps an eye our vehicles, one on a rainy night and one on a rainy afternoon.

First IP CAM I ever owned. Been tweaking on it for about six months. Read a lot of reviews and had the brand recommended to me by a friend... what I missed was... Issue 1.) Ubiquity moved RSTP support from the camera to their free off-board software (good luck finding this advertised). Ubiquity Aircams still support it on board. After reading the forums (all 50 pages of it) I saw no official response from Ubiquity why... Obviously without RSTP support on camera you need another machine to capture and generate the RSTP stream. So say you want your Synology (insert your NAS vendor here) to manage and better yet host the huge recordings. With the old aircams (and seemingly every other IP camera I found here on Amazon)... no problem simply configure and rock on. With the new UVC series, problem... need to install the "FREE" software on another machine, then I can connect my NAS to the not so free extra hardware wasting electric to simply re-stream :) Issue 2.) Maybe all cameras of this price range provide so so night video. Maybe I expect too much. I did expect I could recognize my wife who was standing 10 feet in front of the camera with the infrared on... Honestly if I didn't ask her to be there I am not sure I could identify her... Speaking of infrared... Issue 3.) With the infrared lights on and light rain forget any reasonable automated motion sensing. A raindrop 1' in front of the camera will trigger motion.. Sure I can turn the sensitively way down to stop this nuisance... now cats/dogs/racoons go unnoticed.. Although deer still trigger it :) Not sure this is limited to this camera.. probably not, I imagine most sense motion and suffer the same way. A couple words of advice... Don't turn on motion email alerts until you have calibrated motion sensing at night with rain... Unless of course you want an email slideshow!

In your house you have a great wifi network, the wireless network coverage is perfect and the speed is blazingly fast. But as soon as you step outside into your garden your wireless network signal plummets down and by the time you reach your outdoor lounge set, you will have to switch to 4G. Sounds familiar? With an Unifi Outdoor AP, we can fix this 😉
Read the full UniFi Access Point Comparison in this article
So what are your options to fix this? Adding additional access points into your house and close to the garden won’t do much. The thick exterior walls and glass will reduce the wireless signal simply too much.
The best solution is to place an Outdoor Unifi AP (access point) or place an access point in your shed or garage, the thinner (most of the time wooden walls) won’t reduce the signal too much. But which access point do you need?
I assume you already have Unifi access points in your house, if not then you really should check out this article first. So what are your options with Unifi to extend your home network into the garden?
Unifi has a couple of full weatherproof outdoor AP’s. They can be placed on a wall or pole and all you need to do is pull a network cable to it. If you have a patio or porch you could also go for a weather-resistant access point.
Before we go to the actual Unifi Outdoor AP’s, we first need to solve the power and network requirements. Each access point requires power, now this is something that isn’t a big of an issue in the garden.
The power to the access point is delivered over the network cable. You can simply use a PoE Adapter (Power over Ethernet Adapter) for the access point. Network, on the other hand, is most of the time a bit more difficult. You don’t always have the option to pull a network cable from your switch to the garden.
To solve this issue we can use a mesh network. This way the outdoor access point will connect wirelessly to another Unifi Access Point for the network connection and still be able to function as a normal access point. I have written a complete guide on how to set up a wireless uplink network.
The Unifi Mesh network is great, but if you have the option to pull a network cable from your switch to the garden or garage/shed then this should be your preferred option. A wired connection is always better.
The new Unifi 6 Mesh is the successor of the Flex HD and AC Mesh. It’s the new goto access point for outdoor installations. It can also be used indoors of course, but the UniFi 6 Mesh is IPX5 rated, making it rugged enough to use outdoors.
With the new WiFi 6 802.11ax Wifi network you are capable of reaching a high throughput with your outdoor access point. The 6 Mesh is also the perfect access point to create a wireless bridge or mesh network due to its 4×4 Wifi 6 network.
The new WiFi 6 Mesh access point has better built-in antennas than the older Flex HD model. It comes with a 3dBi antenna gain for 2.4Ghz and a 5dBi antenna gain for 5Ghz. This way you are capable of covering a large area and reaching a higher connection speed.
Read more about the new UniFi 6 access points in this complete UniFi access point comparison .
This is the latest Unifi Access point, which can be used indoors and outdoors. It’s fully weatherproof and can be mounted on a wall, pole, or base (standing).
The modern design of Unifi Flex HD looks great, this is an access point that you don’t need to hide. Its sleek design allows you to place it close to the users.
With a price of around $180 , it’s one of the most expensive options, but you will also get the best performance and the best-looking Unifi Access Point at this time.
The Unifi Flex HD can be part of an Unifi mesh network. A mesh network allows you to connect access points wirelessly together so you don’t have to pull network cables across your garden. Another great benefit of the Unifi mesh network is that these access points can provide a mesh network and a normal wireless network simultaneously.
The Unifi AC Mesh is really a versatile Unifi outdoor ap. The different mounting options allow you to quickly or temporarily mount this outdoor access point in any location.
Just like the Unifi Flex HD supports the AC Mesh a mesh network, so you can create a mesh network with it and/or just it as a normal access point. With a 3dBi external antenna (2.4ghz) you will get a further range than with the Unifi Flex HD (1.6 dBi).
The price is also a bit lower than the Unifi Flex HD, you can buy an AC Mesh for $99 .
Just like the AC Pro below is the new Unifi 6 Long Range not a true UniFi outdoor ap. With an IP54 rating, it’s considered a semi-outdoor access point. This means that you can place the access point under a porch for example, but not fully exposed.
It’s a great access point to use as a start (uplink) for an outdoor mesh network or wireless bridge. Its strong antennas (4 dBi for 2.4Ghz and 5.5 dBi for 5Ghz) will give you a good outdoor range to cover a wide area.
Not a real outdoor access point, but a good option if you have a porch or patio. This Unifi Access Point supports indirect weather installation and can be placed on a ceiling. So if you have a porch, then this outdoor access point can be a great option.
The Ac pro can be used as a starting point for your mesh network. So if you want to extend your wireless network into your garden, then you could use the AC Pro on the porch and the AC Mesh
