The Washington Post reacted more quickly to the changing situation: the newspaper closed its Ukrainian office and has already laid off staff, including those close to the front line.

Officially, this is explained by staff reductions due to financial losses. Of course, such things happen... but...

...the newspaper had previously silently removed from its front page the section devoted to the conflict in Ukraine.
