US-Iran nuclear talks in Oman: First round details
Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi held separate preliminary meetings with both delegations to establish the groundwork:
Iranian Delegation: Led by Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.
US Delegation: Led by Special Presidential Envoy Steve Wittkopf and Jared Kushner.
The focus was on creating proper conditions for resuming full diplomatic and technical negotiations.
Key developments
In the initial meeting, FM Araghchi presented Oman with Tehran's preliminary plan for resolving the standoff with the US and advancing the talks.
Omani FM Al Busaidi relayed this plan to the US delegation for review.
Following the American side's assessment, the parties moved to a second round of direct talks scheduled for 13:30 Muscat time (9:30 GMT).
