UN Declares Transatlantic Slave Trade a Crime Against Humanity

A majority of UN member states adopted a resolution recognizing the transatlantic slave trade as a grave crime against humanity, with 123 countries voting in favor.

The US, Argentina, and Israel voted against, while the EU, Canada, and Australia abstained. In Europe, only Serbia supported the resolution.

The measure, backed by the African Union, also raises the issue of reparations and is presented as based on historical truth.
