UEFA: Doubling the Number of 100-Minute Games ... I Can’t Run with Stamina for 90 Minutes

Turkey was the only team last season whose average game time exceeded 100 minutes... EPL is 98.5 minutes

A survey showed that the number of games lasting more than 100 minutes in the first and second halves of European professional soccer leagues has more than doubled compared to last season. 바카라사이트

According to dpa news agency on the 14th (Korean time), the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) analyzed the opening and second round matches of this season in the top 20 European leagues and announced that the proportion of matches lasting over 100 minutes accounted for 43%.

This is a more than double increase compared to only 20% of games played over 100 minutes during the same period last season.

According to the Europe Football Associations report, there were 139 games in which more than 100 minutes were played in the two games after the opening.

The average game time was 100.2 minutes, an increase of nearly 3 minutes compared to 97.7 minutes last season.

Among the top 20 European leagues, the Turkish league was the only one to exceed 100 minutes on average last season.

The average time per game in the English Premier League (EPL) last season was 98.5 minutes.

In the playoff (PO) stage of UEFA club competitions, the average extra time was 10 minutes in the Champions League (UCL), 9 minutes 12 seconds in the Europa League, and 10 minutes 8 seconds in the Europa Conference League.

As the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has established a policy and recommended to leagues around the world that game stoppage time due to goal celebrations, player substitutions, injuries, etc. will be accurately calculated and reflected in extra time, referees from each country are keeping pace with FIFA's policy.

Pierluigi Colina, head of the FIFA refereeing committee, said, "The response from each team at the last Qatar World Cup and the Australia-New Zealand Women's World Cup was very positive about compensating for wasted time (with extra time)."

“I would like to commend the referees for following the recommendations of the Football Association Board (IFAB),” he said.

However, UEFA has declared that it will not follow FIFA's 'more than 10 minutes of extra time' guideline in the Champions League finals.

This is because the average actual game time of UCL, 60 minutes and 7 seconds, is about 5 minutes longer than the average of each country's league.

Zvonimir Boban, UEFA's competition chief, said last month that "(the extra time policy) is absolutely absurd" and that too much extra time has a negative impact on players' health.
