Two consecutive losses at the beginning of the hope of the game in a single tournament

Gyeonggi Hope Invitation won the 21st National Elementary School Baseball Tournament for the second consecutive year, which shows off the skills that baseball dreamers have honed throughout the winter.

Gyeonggi Hope University won 14-4 against Suncheon Namsan Elementary School in the final of the tournament held at Gunsan Wolmyeong Baseball Stadium in Jeollabuk-do Province on the 2nd. In the semifinals earlier, Gyeonggi Hope University won 3-2 against Cheongju Seokgyo Elementary School and Suncheon Namsan Elementary School won 10-4 against Daejeon Yucheon Elementary School.

The winning team Hopeful Cho swept the individual title. Hong Seo-yul was named the MVP of the competition, and Kwon Si-hwan swept the batting and outstanding pitcher awards. Kwon Si-hwan and Kim Sung-hee won the home run and manager awards, respectively. Lee Kang-hyun of Suncheon Namsan Elementary School received the Gamtu Award.

The competition is hosted by Gunsan Sangil High School (formerly Gunsan Sang High School), which is famous for its "master of reversal." The first competition was held in 2002 to develop elementary school baseball, which is the root of the baseball league, and this year, the 21st competition was held. This competition was well received by the team and parents by posting pictures of players on the electronic display whenever students appeared at the batter's box.

In addition, it is the only elementary school national baseball tournament in the region, and members of the Japanese league continue to work hard to foster dreamers even though they have their own jobs. At this year's competition, which marks its 21st anniversary, Seo Geo-seok, superintendent of Jeonbuk Province, Gunsan City Mayor Kang Im-joon, and Shin Young-dae, a lawmaker of the Democratic Party of Korea, were present at the entrance ceremony.

The championship has served as a cradle for pro baseball stars. Korean shortstop Oh Ji-hwan was named MVP and best pitcher of the first competition, while Hwang Dae-in and Ko Seung-min were also named as winners.

"It's the 21st anniversary of the baseball competition hosted by the Japanese league consisting of graduates from Gunsan Sangho High School," said Yeo Sang-beom, chairman of the baseball league. "It's a baseball competition held every year, but this year's competition was particularly difficult. I hope it will be an opportunity for the players to improve their skills and skills. I also express my hope that the national elementary school baseball competition of the Japanese league will help develop baseball at least a little bit."

Meanwhile, members of the Japan Baseball Organization expressed regret over the reality of baseball, which is nearing extinction, and expressed hope for a revival. Four teams from North Jeolla Province participated in the championship last year, but only two teams participated this year.

"Regional baseball is becoming increasingly difficult due to the reduction of student population. There are only three elementary schools and three middle schools in North Jeolla Province," said Kim Eun-seop, the former chairman of the association. "I am deeply saddened by the concern that Gunsan's baseball might be cut off," adding, "This makes me more desperate to hold a championship even if it is not easy. I hope that the players who have been linked to the event will pay more attention to it in the future."
