A married Florida middle school teacher has pleaded guilty to having sex with a 14-year-old male student and sending nude photos to him, according to multiple reports.
Stephanie Peterson, 27, faces between five and 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of lewd or lascivious battery sex act with a child, a second-degree felony. If the case had gone to trial, she could have faced up to 15 years in prison.
She also pleaded guilty to one count of transmission of harmful material to minors by electronic means, a third-degree felony.
Peterson was arrested after the teen revealed the relationship to his parents. Police said the sexual relationship began in November 2017. The boy, an eighth grader, had been her student the previous year, Sheriff Mike Chitwood told Click Orlando last February.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the student said Peterson would send him nude photos. On multiple occasions, Peterson picked the boy up from his home around 11 p.m. and brought him back a few hours later while her husband was at work. The sex occurred in her house, her car and in a barn behind the student’s house. The sexual contact occurred between Nov. 1, 2017 and Jan. 31, 2018, according to the court documents.
Peterson also bought the teen marijuana and bowls for smoking it, according to the documents, though she was not ultimately charged with the drugs.
The student said that his grades began to suffer after their relationship started. He also said Peterson told him they had to keep their relationship secret.

Authorities gathered evidence of Peterson’s Snapchat messages after she learned that the boy’s mother was going to the police, according to the documents.
“I hate you,” she wrote to the student, according to the court documents. “So much.”
Then she wrote, “Please tell her it was the worst decision of my life and I know it was and idk where my brain was but that I somehow fell in love with you briefly and idk why and I’ll never be the same person because of it.”
Then she pleaded with the boy: “Delete everything.”
A sentencing date has not yet been set. The judge ordered a pre-sentence investigation to help reach a decision.
Peterson’s attorney did not immediately return PEOPLE’s call for comment

The potential for a good story that just got lost
I typically do not like the "traditional" gay cliché genre where all relationships have to end in tragedy. But I COULD have made an exception here had the writer/filmmaker decided to go in the direction of a ghost story...which was alluded to about mid-way. Meaning, there were many elements of horror/psychological thriller, beginning with the character of Nathan's family life. Then, we see the tension between Nathan and one of Roy's "alpha male" friends, foreshadowing some negative story line. But all in all, this is just too linear and has a very "made for TV" feel (the sound-track gets very annoying). And the ending seems to make this just too "cutesy" and negates the entire horror/ghost story direction (it's almost as if the writer got stuck and didn't know where to go and wanted to end on some "feel good" note...just lazy). Also, there were several instances where either the writer or the director didn't seem to understand the setting they were portraying (Baptists in the South would NEVER have a crucifix on the wall...let alone in a church...that's Catholicism). In other words, a) do your research b) pick your "mood" and where you want to go and c) be consistent. The acting was in fact superb and I think the best thing about this...so I wish all involved an excellent career.

Kaden Wild, a fellow traveller, claims he saw the pair getting it on in full view the day before Valentine's Day.
The stunned 26-year-old was with his partner, Mark, and first saw the two women allegedly knocking back wine as they travelled from Crewe to London Euston.
The store manager from Preston told Sun Online: "We noticed these women were sat in our seats and they were quite lairy so we decided instead of getting them to move seats we would take a seat to the left of them.
"It was just them, me and Mark and some elderly people down the end of the carriage.
"And then they got a bit quiet and we noticed they had made a bit of a dam with their coats so the people on the other side of the train couldn't see into their little area.
"We clocked onto it pretty soon - the redheaded woman's head disappeared so I looked over to see what was going on and her head was underneath the other woman's coat between her legs.
"There was some giggling and the occasional moan but they thought they were being totally under the radar."
Kayden, who was on the way to catch a plane to New York, claimed: "It went on and on and on and it got to the point where we were coming in to Euston and the train conductor was coming to clear the tables.
"We expected him to say 'this is not the time and place ladies' but he just carried on.
"They carried on until the brakes went on, then got up, put their coats on and one of them pulled her leggings up."
A Virgin Trains spokesperson said: “We’re sorry for Mr Wild’s experience and are looking into it. Anti-social behaviour is very rare on our trains but we’re sorry when a passenger experiences it.
"In many cases the train manager will deal with the situation there and then, and if they can’t they will notify the British Transport Police.”
