A boy took his father's Viagra tablets to school and handed them out to his friends during their lunch break.
The youngster and five fellow pupils, all aged 12 and 13, were taken to hospital after swallowing the powerful anti-impotence drug.
He has now been suspended from his high-achieving school for 'actions which placed other pupils at risk'.
The six boys each took one of the blue tablets, but a classmate became concerned and alerted staff at the Forest School, Winnersh, Berkshire.
The pupils were taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading. An ambulance service spokesman said: 'Their conditions were monitored regularly.
'However, they did not suffer any side-effects and they were fine. They were then released.'
The spokesman added: 'As far as I know, the Viagra did not have its usual effect on the children.'
Parents of the boys involved claimed the children had no idea what they were doing when they took the drug.
However, a sixth-former at the school said: 'I would not take it and it is a very immature thing to do.
'It's very dangerous to take something if you don't know what it is - it could have been lethal.'
Launched by Pfizer in a blaze of publicity five years ago, Viagra was seen as a breakthrough in the treatment of male impotence.
Although it should only be prescribed by a doctor, it is available through the Internet, meaning health checks on potential users are often not carried out.
Experts warned that the drug is untested on children.
Dr Alan Tang, of the Royal Berkshire Hospital's Florey Unit, which specialises in sexual health, said Viagra could be lethal if combined with other drugs.
'Viagra has not been tested on boys that age,' he added. 'In terms of dysfunction, it is not likely to have any particular effect. But it could combine with other medication which could be potentially fatal.
'In adults, it has been shown to be dangerous when combined with medication for some heart conditions. If my son did something like that, I would be quite horrified.'
The incident also led to calls for parents to keep a closer eye on medication kept at home. One father, whose son attends Forest School but was not involved in the incident last Thursday, said: 'Parents should teach their children more about what they are taking and the dangers of taking anything like Viagra, even check their rooms if necessary.'
Last year, 70 per cent of pupils at Forest School achieved five good GCSEs, putting it 864th out of more than 3,500 schools nationwide.
The school said: 'It is believed that a pupil brought the tablets in from home.
'The school responded quickly to the situation and, as a precaution-paramedics were called. All six have subsequently been discharged and are not expected to suffer any ill- effects. All of the tablets have been accounted for.
'The school has a strict no-drugs policy and a pupil will be temporarily excluded.'

These are the 'too-short' shorts that caused administrators at a Montreal high school to kick student Lindsey Stocker off campus.
Stocker donned the jean shorts To Beaconsfield high school on the first hot day of the season, and was temporarily suspended when she refused to change.
The grade 11 girl is seen wearing the controversial shorts for the first time, in pictures published by the Montreal Gazette .

Stocker unwittingly started a revolution by refusing to change out of a pair of shorts, when she was told they were not appropriate for school on May 21.
She refused, and instead printed a poster that she plastered over the school, questioning why girls' bodies were the focus of the rules instead of boys' behavior.
During third period on that day, two vice principals entered her classroom and told everyone to stand up so their outfits could be inspected .
'And when they came to me after about two rows of looking they stopped and told me my shorts were too short and I had to change,' Stocker told the National Post .

'They continued to tell me would be suspended if I didn't start following the rules. When I told them I didn't understand why I had to change they told me that it doesn't matter - I don't have to understand the rules, I just have to comply by them.'
Stocker felt singled out and humiliated in front of her class, but what concerned her more was a set of rules that focused on girls' bodies rather than boys' behavior.
So instead of complying with the rules, she went and printed up about 20 posters and stuck them up all over the school.
The posters read, 'Don't humiliate her because she's wearing shorts. It's hot outside. Instead of shaming girls for their bodies, teach boys that girls are not sexual objects.'

The posters were taken down by teachers after about 10 minutes, but they live on in social media.
Stocker also has won the support and admiration of other girls at school.
'Most people are agreeing with her, women shouldn’t have to cover themselves up completely because we shouldn’t be viewed as sexual objects,' student Sierra Drolet told CJAD News .
Lauren Paquay, 15, showed up wearing shorts in support of Stocker. She said the dress code verification - making girls stand up with their arms by their sides to ensure their outfits are fingertip length - is 'humiliating.'

'People are being judged for the way they dress, they have to change because boys look at them. The boys should be the ones who have to learn to treat women better and look at them in a different light,' she told CBC .
The chairperson of the Lester B Pearson School Board told CJAD News that Stocker has been suspended for not following the rules.
'The rules are there to help the children learn and prepare them for their future work places, high school is a job for them, they are there to learn to function in society, so it’s important that the rules be followed,' Susanne Stein Day says.
'Girls and boys have rules on dress codes; it is not a girl, boy thing, that’s not the point.'
'I was in violation for showing my legs,' she says. 'And that, point blank, is a problem for me.'

The closest thing to a one-stop shop of underground downtown culture is this bare-bones space carved out of an old brick building on Roosevelt. It's strictly an after-dark joint. More of an art incubator than an art barn, gallery owner Kraig Foote's seven-year-old art space gives talented young artists a commercial outlet that few would otherwise have. Most of the painters, sculptors, potters, woodworkers and glass blowers who show here still store their supplies in lockers and cabinets at local colleges, universities and high schools. But their works are often the artistic equal to those found in neighboring galleries along Scottsdale's art walk. Best of all, Foote's success hasn't lured him away from his original plan. Prices are still low, from $100 to $2,000. And fresh faces and art are always emerging from the gallery's pool of young talent.

At the greatly revamped Mesa Southwest Museum, though, all that dull old stuff is now brilliantly weaved into an epic kid-friendly tale of Arizona, a tale that spans some three billion years and includes everything from meteors and trilobites to territorial jails and the making of the movie Wyatt Earp .
The star of the museum is its new Prehistoric Wing, a 40,000-square-foot display that doubled the museum's space when it opened in May. With giant automatronic dinosaurs and a towering waterfall, the new wing keeps the kids excited and engaged as they digest lots of hard science and history.
The museum also has two galleries that host changing exhibits as well as numerous hands-on programs for kids.
The museum's hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children 3 to 12. Children under 3 are free.
