Changelog
Patch: 1.14.3
5 points in Opportunity will give you the most bang for your buck, with Assassin's Blade in your Main Hand you will be doing some serious damage because of this talent
As one of the better pvp talents for Rogues in general, 3 points in Improved Gouge give you a lot of control.
2 points in Remorseless Attacks can be a very fun and powerful talent in a Battleground where you can get kills to set up your next attack.
Ambush : Learned fresh at level 18, this ability will almost certainly one shot any non-twink character in the 10-19 bracket and will definitely check people who are less dedicated to twinking.
Backstab : If you are using a dagger in your main hand, this will be your main attack but, it requires you to be behind your target.
Sinister Strike : If you prefer using Shadowfang in your main hand then this is the ability you will use to generate combo points.
Eviscerate : This will be your big finishing move at level 19.
Race: Whether you are going for the best racial for PVP or the most aesthetically pleasing appearance, you're going to be limited to your Faction's Races.
Faction Specific Quest Rewards: Some quests are Faction specific, meaning that if it is an Alliance only quest you won't be able to get it on Horde and vice versa. It's important to research what quest rewards are available to you so that you can get the quests done at early a level as possible.
Gnome: Probably the most complimentary Race when playing a Rogue for PVP, you'll gain access to Escape Artist which will allow you to dispel the various "roots" that you'll have to deal with at the 10-19 bracket. It's also worth noting that Expansive Mind is the best racial for casters on Alliance as well, this along with Engineering Specialization makes Gnome the best option for Alliance twinks.
Dwarf: Although not as useful as the Gnomish Racial Stoneform would be my 2nd pick for an Alliance Rogue twink; I always like to have an on use Racial that impacts combat, and increasing armor while dispelling bleeds and/ or poisons is not a bad ability.
Human: This is the race you go if you don't like the way the first two look, you might gain a slight edge on Rogues in duels using Perception , but I wouldn't put much stock into this Race.
Night Elf:ย Shadowmeld isn't very useful compared to the other Racials you have available to you, I would only roll NE if you really like the way it looks.
Undead: Since you can't be Tauren, you should definitely be looking toward Undead for Will of the Forsaken to help you deal with Warlocks in the 10-19 bracket.
Orc: While the Alliance Races had a pretty steep drop off from Dwarf to Human, Orc is actually a pretty reasonable option with a hefty amount of stun resist Hardiness and an on use damage increase in Blood Fury .
Troll: Personally Trolls are my favorite looking Race, unfortunately they don't have access to the same level of Racials as the other 3 Horde Races do. It's worth noting that they have high base agi as well as Berserking .
Explore Zones: Although it might sound tedious to do so, explore every zone you think you might go to on your 19 twink. This is actually quite an important because certain quest chains can only be started at level 19 and in some cases can even give you 95% of the level; the last thing you want to do is accidentally level up by stepping into a new zone.
Don't Equip Your BoEs Until The Very End: Many items that twinks use are Bind on Equip and can be equipped with no cost to your experience. With these items, I wouldn't equip them until you are 19, finished with everything else, and ready to PVP.
Do Dungeons and Quests As Early As Possible: If you need an item from a Dungeon you should have a friend run you as soon as possible, it may take you several runs to get a particular item. In addition, Quests and/ or Dungeon Quests should be completed as soon as you can pick up the quest, most of the time you can finish all of your quests before level 18. It's worth noting that certain quests will require level 19 to begin so you will want to have everything else completed before then.
Be Patient: There's a lot to complete on a 19 twink and you should be ready to invest the time necessary to make sure you are happy with your finished character. For instance, you are able to complete things like professions, the STV fishing event, as well as the STV arena event all at level 10, there's no reason to rush these things.
Rare Fish - Keefer's Angelfish : If you happen to fish up a Keefer's Angelfish you can return to Fishbot and claim your Lucky Fishing Hat , this is the best helm for all 19 twinks.
Rare Fish - Brownell's Blue Striped Racer : If you happen to fish up a Brownell's Blue Striped Racer you can return to Fishbot and claim your Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots , these are the highest stamina boots you can get on a 19 twink. It's also worth noting that in The Burning Crusade you can enchant these with level 70 enchants.
Rare Fish - Dezian Queenfish : If you happen to fish up a Dezian Queenfish you can return to Fishbot and claim your High Test Eternium Fishing Line . Although this doesn't actually give you a twink item, you can take pride in having collected something else for your hobby character.
Most notably, every chest will contain a single Arena Master which will begin the quest Arena Master that can be turned into Short John Mithril .
Short John Mithril can be found nearby in the spectator seats opposite the entrance of the arena. Once you bring him an Arena Master he will ask you to bring him 11 more for a total of 12, upon completing such a grandiose task he will reward you with Arena Grand Master .
Green Tinted Goggles : Before you get your fishing hat, this is going to be your best option for a helm and it requires you to max Engineering. If RNG isn't in your favor, you might be using this for quite some time while you are trying to catch a Keefer's Angelfish .
Minor Recombobulator : This is another item from Engineering that can hold one of your trinket slots while you are working toward your Arena Grand Master .
Big Bronze Bomb : With this, Engineering gives any twink character the ability to stun enemies as well as deal a bit of extra fire damage. This item is extremely useful similar to how useful grenades are for max-level PVP.
Strong Fishing Pole : Can be found on almost all fishing vendors but, it is only sold one at a time. Fortunately the cooldown isn't very long and you should be able to get one of these quite easily.
High Test Eternium Fishing Line : A reward for catching one of the rare fish at the fishing tournament, you can upgrade your fishing pole with a stronger line.
Bright Baubles or Aquadynamic Fish Attractor : Lures are a consumable that will increase your fishing skill by a dramatic amount for a short while. These should be attached at all times during the fishing tournament.
Expert First Aid - Under Wraps : Will allow you to reach a skill of 225.
Manual: Heavy Silk Bandage : This teaches you a recipe that you can craft to level up your skill in First Aid.
Manual: Mageweave Bandage : Finally, this will make getting your last 15 points very easy.
Twinks are an excellent in-game "hobby", your character will reflect the amount of time, effort, and gold that you invest into the character. Getting the absolute best gear on a 19 twink can be very expensive and very time consuming.
There are a lot of extracurricular activities that go into creating a 19 twink, you should be patient and plan ahead so that you don't accidentally level your character to 20. Events like the Gurubashi Arena, The STV Fishing Tournament, and Dungeons can be done early on to avoid unnecessary experience gains.
Grinding max level reputations can give you powerful pieces of gear and flashy items to show off your dedication. Grinding reputations becomes very popular among 19 twinks during The Burning Crusade expansion.
Engineering, Fishing, and First Aid are required to make a twink in the 10-19 bracket. Using these professions will allow you to gain access to unique pieces of gear, as well as powerful consumables to aid you in combat.
One thing, this goes for all the guides, but you can't get the Zandalari shoulder to enchant on twinks. It's BoP and requires Zandalar rep, which means you need to be able to go into Zul'Gurub in order to get those items, but low levels can't enter that instance.
You can put the enchant on a white shoulder item via your main character and trade it over.
So it couldn't be done on Talbar Mantle?
This brings up the question of whether Talbar Mantle with its 30 armour and better stam is better than Feral Shoulder Pads with 60 armour. Also, I thought white items couldn't be enchanted...?
If it can't be applied to what you have listed as the best shoulders, are those really the best shoulders? Shouldn't what you have listed in the best slot reflect the literal best possible?
You can't put a ZG mantle enchant on a WHITE shoulder. The moment you'll try tol appy, a window pops up informing you that the item will become soulbound!... If you ignone the warning (as white items can't be soulbound as you know)... you'll end up with a WHITE soulbound item on your main character that you won't be able to trade trade :P (learned it the hard way)
I have 2 rogue twinks at the moment lvl 19 and 29. I've been actively participating in WSG as lv 19 twink for 4 or 5 months now, as lvl 29 for maybe 2 months.. So, I played what is called WoW Vanilla in 2005 for 8 to 10 months on my Uncle's account before I joined the military. I never made lvl 60, I had 2 toons 43 Shadow Priest, and 47 Rogue. I hadn't played since then until I set up an account in Feb 2020. I'm Player Lvl Begginer just in the regular game, and new born when it comes to BG PVP(WSG is all I know). It seems to me that every person who writes a twink guide never explains or shows proof that not only do they use the exact set up they are promoting, but have achieved top rank status as one of the best in their class at this lvl with the the info they are sharing. From how I get clapped by a few of these other rogues I go up against I can't even get my sword moving in their direction and I've been stabbed over 20+ times by something that looks like its stuck glitching back and forth, and I'm dead less than 1 sec... So, so where is the guide to learn to play like that? I don't have an Attack button that does that in my action bars.. No, BiS or enchant does that and no Twink guide shares how to do that. Every guide of every class says Speed enchant to boots... So if everyone has it, how is it an advantage? Rogues are given specific talents to be slow and stealth, then Sprint. Why do I need slight speed increase on my boots? With swiftpots, goblin boots, sprint, plus the buff in the tunnels rogues have 4 ways to significantly increase their speed when you needed. Not to mention the ZG world buff actually gives 10% increase not "Slightly" whatever unit of measurement that is.. If you put 8 agility on your boots that is an extra 2% Dodge and .50% Crit.. That seems more like an advantage than Speed to boots. Now, I would love some input and feedback about why I'm wrong or why you're right about what I'm doing as far as talents. This guide says to put 5 of the 10 precious talent points in "Opportunity" for a 20% increase to the damage for 1 single strike and 1 specific attack. Opportunity limits you to the attacks that require your movement to be impaired requiring stealth, limits you to a specific weapon to that doesn't yield the highest damage you're capable of, and you use one of these attacks you cannot switch to a sword that gives you the chance for the highest output of damage, you have to carry out the rest of the fight with sub stanard weapon, not too mention those backstabbs and ambush strikes miss a lot at lvl 19 probably costing you way more damage over the rest of the fight than the 20% xtra on the 1 hit at the start of the fight, if you're lucky enough to not miss. Then the 2 pts Remoreless Attack: "WITHIN 20 SECONDS AFTER KILLING an opponent CRIT STRIKE % will be increased by 40% on next SinStrike ambush so on.. Two talent points for a 20 second window to increase your crit % by 40 giving you a 50-80%Crit chance, depending on your base crit %, on your next attack. Again just 1 attack boosted for 1 strike and then everything is back to normal. This doesn't seem like a good use of talent points. This could be very beneficial considering sometimes you get honor kill credit just for being close by or having targeted an enemy even without attacking. If those types of kills don't trigger this talent, and it requires killing blows, this is waste when you only have 10 points to use. Then Improved Gogue 3 pts for an extra 1.5 seconds, for a total of 4.5 second stun! This has to be the biggest waste of points yet, anyone can break the stun, a mage AOE or a Dot casted before after of at the same time you attacked... Regular Gogue with a Sprint, Swiftness Pot, and Goblin Boots will be of more use that an extra 1.5 seconds, and should get you to a safe space to bandage, or away from danger, and it doesn't cost you 3 talent points! This is where I am today with my LVL19 and what ive tried. I have 2 assassinsblades 2 cruel barbs a shadowfang. I've tried and mixed and matched Crusader, Lifestealing, and Agility enchants on all of them, the agility on both has been the most successful for me with my build. The build I use is simple 5/ 5 malice +5% Crit, and 5/ 5 lightening reflexes +5% dodge. I've tried all sorts of builds, I have read and watched tons expert twink builds guides, and this build works best for me. For gear its all Agility, I will sacrifice 3 or 4 stam for 1 extra agility. Helm and Leg enchant I go +8 Agility over 100hp. I go for Glowing Lizard Scale Cloak for the +3 Agility over Sentry Cloak and SGT Cloak. I read that every 4 agility at lvl 19 is 1% dodge and .25% crit, and i dont recall the amount of attack power. Correct me if I'm wrong about this I want accurate information and dont want to spread inaccurate info. With world buffs and potions I'm usually at 55% Dodge and 35% Crit, depending on buffs I'm between 850-1200HP. I use shadowfang/ Cruel Barb or 2 Cruel Barbs, I don't use daggers anymore. I seem to win/ play better w/ 2 swords instead of Shadowfang/ Assassins Blade(which is the most recommended set up in these BiS Guides) and I never use a Dagger in Main Hand. I find that the DPS/ CritDamage is higher and the chance of my attack being deflect/ miss/ dodge/ perry/ block doesnt happen as often as it did with a dagger in MH or 1HSwordMH/ DagOH. The fancy attacks that require a dagger in Main Hand seemed to MISS A LOT for me and coming out of stealth with you're big hit blown and energy gone and your opponent with nothing to react to or be concerned about, its not a good position to be in, sprint or die. My typical way of fighting in the mid with a group is I Garrote out of stealth, pop sprint/ swiftpot/ gobboots, spam SinStrike up to 3 combo points, then I spam Slice and Dice, then gouge and sinstrike till the end. To me Eviscerate at 3 combo points is the same damage as my sin strike and more likely to miss than my sinstrike, thats why I use SnD. I find that the fight is over 95% of the time before I am able to build up 4 combo pts and execute a finishing blow. Usually they're either dead, healed(then I retreat), they are retreating trying to get healed and I'm using range to finish or I'm moving to another enemy, or I am feared sheeped frozen hamstringed rooted and stunned by arrows and pets. So IMO if don't do a finishing blow by my 3rd combo pt its almost certain that the combo points will go unused or wasted. Since Slice and Dice with 3 combo pts is 20% increase in attack speed for 15 sec, even if the person that I generated the combo pts on for the SnD gets away, I can go attack another player while the buff is active and build another 3 combo pts and trigger it again. Also, a 35% Melee Crit increased the number of melee attacks by 20%, increases the Crit strike chance to 42% over that 15 seconds! Just about every other swing is a Critical Strike, in theory, and swords having a higher max damage and DPS which would explain why I preferer them over Daggers. Again, this is just what I've come up with. Please share tips and input of things I'm not taking into account, I just want to be a better player and want the info to accessible. Also, I know a big area would improve my kill to death ratio is in the addon and macro department.. I tried and had my UI all jacked up and some macros worked fine then they stopped working then they showed up on different toons that I don't PVP with and had their UI all jacked up...Noob probs..
My two cents for those who are going for pro twink gaming , and something that is almost never written in the guides, concerning twink 19 rogues: -A general rule is to discover most areas as possible ( If you are horde, duskwood / redridge are core to discover way before 19 and do the quests for marks too) -Discover and take the flight path for Un Goro as soon as possible. A true twink rogue should always have applied Venomhide Poison on his weapons (If you are not familiar, google it) -Gather as many Blood Shard as possible and complete Tribes at War as early as possible to buff your self up with Agamaggan's Agility (Horde only) P.S Assassin's blade(OH) is overrated, Shadowfang/ Cruel are the weapons you need! Lifestealing/ 15 agility or Lifestealing both and you are good to go! And as talents I'd reccomend 2/ 8/ 0: 2/ 2 Remorseless Attacks 3/ 3 Improved Gouge 2/ 2 Improved SS 3/ 5 Precision (Rogue who miss is a garbo rogue!)
If you're unsure what stats certain items will give, then feel free to check out https:// www.youtube.com/ watch?v=HKGh4M_kBRg Keep in mind that different races have different base attribute stats
Hey, fantastic guide. Any tips on getting around? If I remember correctly, you have to actually go to the entrance of a battleground. Between Warsong Gulch, Wailing Caverns and Booty Bay, it's a lot of distance to cover. Would people travel as a ghost and res at the nearest spirit healer, to save getting discovery xp / repeatedly dying on each journey? For Alliance, WC could be quite the trip!
Honestly I would just go around at like level 10 or so and discover every area you might potentially enter to avoid accidentally gaining exp at a later date. The Warsong entrance is a particularly important place I'd discover.
I'm pretty sure the battlemasters in major cities were added by this patch so you can que from them. You will still have to discover the WSG entrance for the vendor though so don't put it off.
Was BG leveling even possible with wow vanilla?
No, there is no xp in bgs. There is also no timer in WSG so be ready for some very long matches.
If I remember correctly, you could level through BGs by turning in marks. Slow, but possible.
Discombobulator Ray Was missed in the Engineering section ;D
You don't need Engineering to use that item, but yeah might be worth mentioning.
I would agree with your Twinking guide overall. The Gnome is probably one of the best Races to be as a Rogue in 10-19 WSG. Their active is very good.
Many items that twinks use are Bind on Equip and can be equipped with no cost to your experience . With these items, I wouldn't equip them until you are 19, finished with everything else, and ready to PVP .
Don't hand in your marks. That's only for the quests for honor and rep.
