What do they mean to you?
Conversation with a woman, mid 30s...
Me: What do your breasts symbolize or mean to you?
Sarah [pseudonym]: Well, they are mine. First and foremost they represent me as an individual. They are unique and represent the ways that I am unique. They are also powerful and sexy. I don't mind someone thinking they are sexy if they are appreciating them for what they actually are and not considering them sex objects. I believe there is a different between sex object and sexy. I also think its empowering that men do not have them. We shouldn't shy away from pointing that out, simply because it makes them uncomfortable or horny.
Me: What do you think is the biggest area that needs changing in regards to women's bodies?
Sarah [pseudonym]: Hmmm...I think the way that women talk about them. If we get defensive then it seems like we are hiding something. Maybe they are a sex object (she said as she chuckled, obviously poking fun). But you know what I mean, if we spent time talking about what they are, what they can do instead of what they aren't or what they can't do I think the conversation would be more positive and active.

When I began this project I was worried that it wouldn’t do much. For me, for others, or for women. I am so happy to say that I was wrong. I feel honored, blessed, and grateful to have been able to experience and witness the powerful stories and transformations these women have gone through. I also learned so much about myself through this process.
It began as a site for me to reflect on society and power in a new way. I found posts that spoke to me and taught me something new or pointed out something powerful in a new way. In the beginning I wasn’t responding to the posts, I was just collecting them. I found myself journaling about them later. That’s when I decided to to reflect on the posts, submissions, and photos directly under them. The reflections are where I began to grow and experience things in new ways. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to share stories with women. I was also humbled that they were willing to share their lives with me.
I also hoped, but was skeptical, that this would be a place to aid in transformations. To continue them, induce them, and advocate for more. I was happy to see that women were thankful for the experience and found that it was useful both within their own lives but also for the greater public. I learned more than I was expecting to from this project and feel that I have found new inspiration within my own life to set my own agenda and live a life according to me.
I want to thank all the women who contributed to this project. It would not have been the same without all of you. You are all truly an inspiration to me, and have opened my eyes to new ideas. Thank you for helping me grow and learn.
I encourage you all to go out into the world and free your self of other
