So this past weekend I went to Prague! (Hence the title). I still had a few days left on my Eurail pass from my Mom so I just had to use it, otherwise what a waste! I flew into Frankfurt, Germany, stayed there a night, then took the train to Prague (about 7 hours). Seems like a lot, and it is, but I really enjoy trains so it doesn't bother me! On the train to Prague I met two American guys who were in the Army and stationed in Germany so I talked with them for a good 2 hours. They kept "joking" with me that I was an espionage agent because I kept asking so many questions about the Army, what they do, etc. Its just because I'm a really curious person and I always ask so many questions! And because my little brother is in the Navy so I just wanted so more info on the military! After that train ride I finally found where I was staying that night, with Bert from Couchsurfing, a young Belguim guy who works for Accenture (interesting, enough since I applied to work there while at UCLA!) I went out with him and his friends that night to a club in Prague and had a great time. I didn't do an Absinthe shot(its made in the Czech Republic) because I heard they really fuck you up and I wanted to sight see the next day, so I passed on that! On Sunday I walked around almost the whole day taking pictures and seeing the sights! Prague is a very beautiful city, I really loved it. And, of course, at a traditional Czech meal, which was some kind of red meat with a gravy and dumplings! Delish! On Monday I left early in the morning for my train back to Frankfurt, and on my way back some Czech police came around and fined me 100 CZK (about 4€) for resting my feet on the train in front of me! Can you believe that?!? I was so pissed, but of course I just paid it, I was traveling by myself and the last thing I'm going to do is get in trouble with the Czech police! I'm not that dumb.
Now, I'm back in home sweet Alicante... work is going pretty well; some of my students make it better since they are so sweet with me and they really do love me. The other English teachers tell me they are sad when I don't come and ALWAYS want to come with me if we do a split lesson. And they come say hi to me in the halls and are just generally adorable.
Next weekend we are going to Cadiz for Carnaval! Roadtrip!!! More to come...
We basically just ate our entire way through Northern Spain
So for my Christmas break from school, I decided to not do the whole "go home for X-mas" thing (yeah, right, that ticket was over a grand) and instead I wanted to explore Spain, being that I live here and all!
After Madrid and Oviedo, Leslie and I went to Santander, San Sabastian, and Zaragoza. Santander and San Sabastian were absolutely incredible! Both coastal cities and very, very European looking. In Santander we stayed with another fellow Couchsurfer, Ignacio, explored the city during the full day we were there. It was windy and cold when we were there, but that did not deter our exploring (does it ever?? haha) We shared an excellent dinner with Ignacio that night, Spanish Tortilla and Spinach salad, Leslie and I made the salad, and great conversation. Ignacio's house was very beautiful and had an amazing bathroom (I love nice bathrooms). We were so spoiled! In San Sabastian we ended up staying at hostel that was right by the water! I would love to go back there when the weather is warmer because it was such a beach city but it was very cold when we were there. San Sabastian just had this air to it that was so European; I don't know how else to say it. Very up scale French-esque. Carmen, one of the English profesors, told me that it used to be the sun bathing place for royalty back in the day. It definitely shows!
The next day we went to Zaragoza, mainly because it was half way point between San Sabastian and Alicante. We had a travel fiasco there when we tried to leave after spending the night; we went all the way to Teurel, half way between Zaragoza and Valencia via train, and they had to turn all the way back because of the snow! We ended up staying in a real hotel (yes, hotel, not a hostel!) that night that was actually in the train station in Zaragoza because it was freezzzinnggg there and we had such a rough day the last thing we wanted to do was venture out to find a place to stay. I'm sure you wouldn't have blamed us. That hotel could have been the freakin Ritz Carlton for all I care, it was like heaven at that moment! Warm and cozy, with CNN...and a bathtub! You bet I had an hour long bath that night. Just because I could! I slept damn good that night. Ah, amazing.
So now we are back to "reality" (I use that term loosely here being that our "reality" consists of 12 hour workweeks, yeah, please). One of my students drew me a cat today because I asked him to (he is a drawer, thats all he does all day during school). My philosophy is, nurture and encourage their talents, if he doesn't want to study English, then so be it, he can draw. Its really good and he even wrote "For Cory" on it and signed it. Bless his heart. I really like most of the students, and my teachers tell me when I'm not there the students ask where I am and when I'm coming next so that makes me feel good about what I'm doing :)
I am writing this blog from Oviedo, a town in the community of Asturias, the North of Spain. For the New Year we went to Madrid to celebrate at the Puerta de Sol. I arrived on the 30th and we stayed there two nights. The first night I met up with my fellow Teacher Assistant, Leslie from Georgia, to go and have a nice dinner in Madrid. She studied abroad there for 4 months so it was great to have someone who knows the city to explore with! For the New Year, we went to the Puerta de Sol, the Spanish equivalent to NYC New Years. Tons of people and fireworks at midnight! Really, really fun. The tradition for New Years in Spain is for the last 10 seconds of the year, you have to eat one grape until the stoke of midnight. We found some grapes but there were in a can, and thus, had a strange taste, so we skipped that tradition lol. After Sol, we went to a couple different bars to dance and ended the night, as always, at a Kabab restaurant. Always so delicious after a night of partying.
From Madrid, we took the train up to Oviedo which is where we are now! Today, Leslie and I went to the coastal town of Gijón, just 20 minutes bus ride from Oviedo. So beautiful, even though it was raining the whole time. Asturias is well known for how green it is, and it is really true. For the past two nights we have been staying at Jorge´s house, our new friend from Couchsurfing.com! We are hooked on this site now and will try and travel like this for as much as we can! Jorge took us to a Sideria place last night for some famous Asturian Sidra and dinner. I will upload pictures later of the special way of pouring the Sidra. It was such an experience!
Tomorrow, we are heading to Santander and then to San Sabastían! Can´t wait!

Should a photo ID be required to vote? More Important
No, and automatically register every citizen to vote when they turn 18: I see no reason to not already have this in place. If it is the right of every citizen to vote then putting barriers in the way of that is, in my eyes, unconstitutional. Once registered people can decide whether to vote or not, but that choice shouldn’t be made for them through voter restriction laws. 
Should the presidential debates include candidates with less than 15% of support in national polls? More Important
Yes, and we should reform the electoral process to allow more polling and ballot access for third party candidates: The populous is far more diverse in opinion than the simple two party system would have one believe. I welcome third party candidates, and would love to see them become more than just single issue parties, but actual political players. 
Do you support the Patient Protection and Affordable Car Act? (Obamacare): More Important
Yes, but a mandatory single payer system would be even better: I believe health insurance to be one of the main boundaries between lower and middle class. Those who are severely economically disenfranchised end up getting a minor illness, but cannot get adequate care. As a result, they lose their jobs, they default on loans, and their children end of malnourished. Having health insurance and access to adequate healthcare should be standard for all Americans, and to my understanding, a single payer system would be the best way to achieve this. 
Do you support the legalization of Marijuana? More Important
Yes: The only people who think that Marijuana should be a schedule I class drug are those who still live in the fantasy world of the War on Drugs. It is not nearly as dangerous as tobacco or alcohol and both of those are freely available. So many people are being put in jail for years for simply having this on them. They are no danger to society and legalizing it will help lift a systematic attack on the lower class. 
Should the federal government increase funding of health care for low income individuals (Medicaid)? More Important
Should there be more restrictions on the current process of purchasing a gun? More Important
Yes: First off, every single answer other than “No” is some variant on putting more restrictions on the current purchasing of a gun. I don’t understand why the process of getting a drivers license involves more training and testing than getting a gun when the sole purpose of a gun is violence. There is plenty to be learned here, but I believe that modern society should not be as gun obsessed as it us. I do recognize the right to have guns and am by no means proposing a national ban, but the fact that it is a disturbingly efficient weapon of death should be taken more seriously. 
Are you in favor of decriminalizing drug use? Most Important
Yes, and retroactively reduce sentences of those currently serving time: Drug use by itself, to me, shouldn’t be considered criminal activity. I think it is always an unfortunate situation when someone feels they need to use a drug to feel complete, but in that sense it is more of a psychological disease that the person needs help with. Locking them away and destroying their life prospects further helps no one except for-profit prisons.

Can we just talk for a second about these candid photos of Taylor and Joe that the fandom is being so ridiculous by reposting even though we all know that Tay values her privacy.
1) Dunno what’s up with Joe and the jeans on a hike but that’s weird.
2) SHE LOOKS MODERATELY UNCOMFORTABLE IN LIKE 1 OF 30 PICTURES BECAUSE THE PAPARAZZI INTERRUPTED HER DAY AND ARE INVADING HER PRIVACY- not because she’s “embarrassed about sweating in front of Joe” or “weirded out about holding his hand.” ALSO THESE PICTURES WERE TAKEN OVER A SERIES OF 10 SECONDS, I’M JUST FREAKING AMAZED THAT SHE DIDN’T DO HER LIL BABY GIRAFFE THING THAT WE KNOW SHE DOES AND STACK IT. 
3) Why are people criticising her relationship because of one set of images? For a start, it’s none of our business but I highly doubt these 10 seconds in time-- after she’d gone for a hike, no less (Jesus you dont wanna see me after exercising)-- would be a good indication of the health of a relationship. TBH I’d be more concerned if they were all lovey-dovey and all over each other. 
IN CONCLUSION: Can this fandom stop being worse than the haters by obsessing and second guessing a set of photos that were taken and distributed without her permission? Also, I shouldn’t read comment sections. The end. 
I must say Stephen’s mustache is growing on me.
