Kagami Kazuya 's most treasured possession in the world is the obi left to him by his late mother . The scent of cherry blossoms infused into it helps him through his day, but he never expected it to save his life, becoming a beautiful kimono-clad girl who calls herself an artifact spirit. Her name is Kiriha , tsukumogami of the sash, who naturally moves in with him, as he is her owner. Throw in his bespectacled childhood friend Chisato who meddles in his affairs, an overprotective older sister who wants to take baths with him, a busty priestess, a seductive sorceress named Kokuyoura, and Kazuya's life has just gotten a lot more interesting.

Tsugumomo (manga, 2007) is like a simplified, coarser sibling of Monogatari Series (light novel, 2006) with more conventional art and writing. I wouldn't call it a clone both have source material of similar age, both actively publishing still. The similarities in world, characters and premise are stunning nevertheless and run down to small details.

This is particularly true for the supernatural partner of MC. Both Kiriha and Shinobu are females bound with a master-servant pact and nearly one with their partners. Both change age appearance according to power level, and are in loli form most of the time. Both shows have harems made of humans and supernatural entities, including multiple lolis. Tsugumomo has dumber sexualization with a episodic bed and bath ecchi (and penis jokes) segments where Monogatari more refined ecchi moments.

Overall, Tsugumomo is a much lighter and easier watch, at popcorn level. Both shows are different enough to enjoy both universes nevertheless.

Set in present Japan, a mythological being is in a master-servant relationship and should be considered a "tool for the protagonist" that helps fighting of evil spirits. However none of the masters see them as just tools and they both have a somewhat romantic relationship, mixed with harem features.

Excellent title. Thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the development, nice plot keeps you very engaged and PLENTY of fan-service (pick up the uncensored blu-ray). Also good laughs and pleasing character design! Recommended!

Classic harem, and a decent one at that. Definitely recommended if you need a change from all the isekai stuff. Also, the fanservice is fairly light. The "heavy" fanservice consists of about one bath cutesy bath scene per episode.

One of those spiritual-themed ecchi school animes, of which there are a handful out there. This one pretty much plays by the same rules: a lot of fanservice, decent-to-good comedy, a relaxing, if thin, plot, and a naive male lead. One thing that in my opinion stands out in this anime are the characters' ages. Most of them are middleschoolers, or resemble middleschoolers, but still engage in quite wild fanservice, including bed scenes in the nude. Considering that this is a shounen mainstream TV show, it may sound and appear inappropiate to some viewers, so discretion is advised. Otherwise, this watch is decent enough to still enjoy it.

Needless to say, this is for ecchi fans.

Easy and fun, sometimes borderlines hentai. Decent harem. Not bad!

This series is a simple and fun watch with many cheesy and ecchi moments. While this is a fun anime, the fanservice is high... just be aware of that.

It's unexpectedly a pretty fun watch. The fan service is pretty high tho, be careful when watching it.

I wanted to write a proper review for this show, but I couldn't get my wording straight, so I'll settle for this. Basically, this show's a mix of shounen-battle-action and ecchi. It only covers the 'character introduction' arc from the manga, so it's light on story (though has a decent amount of action). What I really liked about this show was Kiriha (the obi) and her dynamics with both Kazuya and Kukuri (the local kami). Overall, this show's nothing special... But for me, it was one of the best of the season. I seriously hope they produce a second one to justify all the character intro done in this season.

When "ordinary boy" Kagami Kazuya meets the beautiful tsukumogami Kiriha , his life gets turned upside-down. As a "Taboo Child" who draws the supernatural towards him, he receives orders from the God of the Land, Kukuri , to become an exorcist and defeat these evil forces. And so, he and Kiriha do battle.

To find out information on these supernatural beings, Kazuya and his friends set up a counselor's club at school. But behind the typical-seeming troubles he hears about, he uncovers a major plot to target Kukuri...

In addition to the sadistic-yet-beautiful tsukumogami Kiriha, the situation draws other girls to Kazuya to join the fray!

Like others have said, the first half of this anime was much like the whole first season. Silly tone, guns-galore fanservice, and a general light-hearted disposition and attitude. During the third quarter, the tone shifted to being High-School DxD-esque, mixing ecchi with a somewhat serious story. Then, on the last quarter, it shifted even further, to the point it almost became a tragedy, with no ecchi involved and a miserable outcome. I see why the writers took the step, as they surely wanted to expand into non-ecchi territory in order to cater to a wider audience, which is perfectly okay, but in this case, as the original tone was so drastically different, the resulting tonal disonance makes the anime feel awkward in its presentation as a whole. Production-wise, voice acting and animation were moderately good, pretty much the same as the first season.

All in all, a peculiar shift in tone. Recommended for fans of the genre.

This is one of the few series where I have been following the manga for years. There is a lot of detail in this fictional world, drawing on Japanese mythology. The characters can be ecchi and silly, but also serious and dramatic. It's a very entertaining show.

The 1st half of this season has the same tone as S1... silly and goofy, but the 2nd half tries to get serious. As always, there is lots of fanservice, so if you enjoyed S1, you'll enjoy this season. Hopefully the wait for S3 isn't long as this ends with a cliffhanger.
